Merrittville Speedway Remembers Flyin’ Brian Stevens This Saturday Night
THOROLD, ONTARIO (May 30, 2023) … DDL Accounting will be presenting the Brian Stevens Memorial for the Corr/Pak Merchandising 358 Modifieds this coming Saturday night at the Merrittville Speedway.
Also on the program agenda will be the first Family Autograph Night of the season. Fans can visit their favorite driver during the session and collect fan cards and more. It is also the second home race for both the 4 Cylinders and Hoosier Stocks as part of the Duel on the Dirt. The Right Choice Auto & Leisure DIRTcar Sportsman, and the RONA/Doidge Building Centre Mod Lites will also be on the racing card.
Brian Stevens was a long-time modified racer and champion at Merrittville, Humberstone and Ransomville. his career spanned from the mid 1970's right up until 2010 and he scored nearly 150 feature wins. Stevens was the 1982 Big Block and 1992 Small Block Modified track champion at Merrittville. “Flyin’ Brian” made numerous trips to Syracuse to do battle against the best dirt modified drivers in the northeast, including being the first Canadian to score a top five finish in the 200-mile race at Super DIRT Week. His final start took place in August of 2011. In the summer of 2014, Brian Stevens joined his father Ray as a member of the CAA Niagara Wall of Fame at Merrittville Speedway. Brian passed away in February 2015 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Pit gates will open at 5pm, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm, and racing will begin at 7:00pm. Regular event admission prices will be in place, with pit admission being $40 and kids 5 and under will be charged $20 pit admission. Grandstand admission is $20 for adults, seniors (60 +) is $18, and youth (13-18) will be $16, with kids 8-12 admitted $8. As always, kids 7 and under will be admitted FREE.
