Inside Line Promotions – WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (June 11, 2019) – Greg Wilson turned a corner last weekend in New York, where he competed in a trio of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions races.

Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Off Road sponsored team improved each night, earning a top 10 during the second race and a top five on Night 3.

“I’ve always felt like the biggest thing for any race team and especially mine is the more we race I can normally get stuff headed in the right direction,” he said. “Getting three nights in a row is huge. All the work we’ve been doing we had nights where we could try some stuff. Friday night we struggled so we took a different approach on Saturday. It was better. Then Sunday we finally had a night where we put a whole night together.”

The action began on Friday at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, where Wilson placed 16th in the main event.

“I felt like the attitude of our car was not good for that place,” he said. “The things I was doing to fix it was making it worse. It kind of changed what we were thinking and what we need to do to get me comfortable with our particular car. I felt like the race track was really racy. We just weren’t very good.”

Saturday night went much smoother at Stateline Speedway in Busti, where Wilson won the B Main before he rallied from 19th to ninth in the A Main. That earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“We changed a lot of little things around and headed in a different direction,” he said. “It fit that track better and then when I get more confidence in the pit area it equates to driving better on the race track.

“Running the B Main was a good thing. They went out and watered the top. It gave us another lane of racing. The car was more comfortable than it’s been. We could run one line in turns three and four and a different line in turns one and two.”

Wilson’s season-best All Star result came on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway. He won a heat race, placed fifth in the dash and capped the night with a fifth-place run in the main event. It marked his first top five of the season with the series.

“We’re super happy with Weedsport,” he said. “We’ve been there a few times and honestly that was the best track I’ve seen at Weedsport. They did a little track work, but it was wide and you could run the top, the bottom, slide across the middle. I got to a point where I was passing for second, but we were too good too early and faded toward the end. I couldn’t hold the car quite as well as I did with a full fuel load. To only fade to fifth instead of 10th, I’m ok with that. Any night you can maintain or move forward when you start in the top 10 is a good night in my book.”

Wilson, who is now tied for seventh in the championship standings, will take that momentum into Ohio Speedweek. The spectacle features nine straight nights of racing beginning this weekend.

The Speedweek races are as follows: Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio; Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio; Sunday at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio; June 17 at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio; June 18 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio; June 19 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio; June 20 at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio; June 21 at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio; and June 22 at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio.
