I-80 Speedway's Speedy Bill Smith Memorial

The Lance Todd Racing Team was at I-80 Speedway for the Speedy Bill Smith Memorial on August 25th. We had this race on our schedule since the beginning of the year, I-80 Speedway was our home track when we first started racing. There were a lot of fast cars in the field, we had a poor draw and started 6th in the heat, after a couple laps of knocking the dust off Lance settled in and raced to a 6th place finish missing the transfer by one spot.

We started the B-Main on the outside front row, after losing all brakes on the second lap of the race Lance was able to bring it home in 3rd place advancing to the A-Main. “It’s never a good feeling having the brake pedal go to the floor. To be honest I was more concerned trying to navigate the pits safely, but we made it in the show and that was the goal.” After repairs were made the 7L tagged the tail of the field and after a couple restarts was moving up through the field when contact from another driver sent him into the wall.

“We had a good run going there, the car was pretty stable on the high side and someone decided to use us up going into turn 3. We damaged the right front hub and it finally broke a couple laps later ending our night. Pretty disappointing really but it seems like that's been how the season has gone so far.” We would like to thank all of our supporters this year including LanceBuilt Graphix, BW’s Pub & Grill, Bannister Speed Plant, MyRacePass, Speedway Motors, and our family and friends.

The Lance Todd Racing Team will be at Junction Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 2nd to close out the 2017 season and prepare for next year.
