Craig Dollansky

Battling Back at I-80 for a Pair of Top-Tens

Up next for the TKS Motorsports team this past weekend was a trip to ‘The Cornhusker State’ as Craig Dollansky joined the National Sprint League for the ‘Fearless 410 Finale’ as the series wrapped up their inaugural season at I-80 Speedway.

Ready to go on Friday for night one of the doubleheader, the race program got off to a rough start as Dollansky registered the 18th fastest lap in qualifying. On the front row for heat competition, the Casey’s General Stores #2KS sprinter secured a direct transfer position to the feature finishing in 2nd.

In the 25-lap A-Main the Des Moines Industrial Products (DMIP) sprinter started deep in the pack outside row nine on the starting grid. Making quick work by powering around six competitors by just the second lap, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ continued to make forward progress breaking into the top-ten before a caution on lap 9. When action resumed, Dollansky raced by Tim Kaeding for 8th and then another yellow came on lap 17. With eight circuits remaining, the Elk River, Minnesota native gained one more position and turned his best lap with 3 to go and finished in 7th earning the KSE Hard Charger.

Back at the ½-mile outside Greenwood, Nebraska on Saturday, the TKS Motorsports team was in another early hole qualifying 17th. In heat action, the Vahlco Wheels Maxim started on the front row and, similar to Friday, ran 2nd to transfer into the A-Main.

In the 30-lap Saturday finale the Aggressive Hydraulics backed entry lined up outside row eight when the green flag waved and the field rumbled into turn one. Making consistent forward progress, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ raced by Mark Dobmeier on lap 6 and then around Danny Lasoski five circuits later for 11th. While the main event endured a long stretch of green flag action, the Stone Mountain Access sponsored sprinter cracked the top-ten by lap 17. Following a caution on lap 26, Dollansky held a top-ten spot in the final four laps taking the checkered flag in 10th.

“All in all we had a decent weekend and passed a lot of cars in the feature both nights,” commented Dollansky. “We need to work on qualifying so we’re not having to start so far back come feature time. Saturday we didn’t have a very good start to the feature and lost some spots and also had a throttle linkage issue that was making things difficult. I feel we left some positions on the table and didn’t get the finish we could have but my crew did a great job all weekend and worked very hard.

“We’re working hard together to make this TKS Motorsports team stronger. We really enjoy racing with TKS and everyone involved as we look towards 2016 and racing with them again. I want to thank my entire team along with all of our sponsors, manufacturers, and fans!”
