2024 CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY

Alger, WA - History was made on Saturday night at Skagit Speedway with five drivers taking home titles, highlighted by Jason Solwold becoming the third driver in track history to win track titles in all three winged sprint car divisions.

Results in the Sportsman Sprints and Skagit Aggregates IMCA Modifieds are unofficial at the time of this writing, as officials will be reviewing results Sunday and may issue a correction on current written results. The review is not expected to affect the race winner or championship winner in either division.

A third place run for Solwold was enough to secure the championship in the Karmart 410 division, as Jason came into the night leading driver’s points over Trey Starks and Trey suffered a mechanical malfunction on lap 3 that ended his evening. The main event was dominated by Robbie Price, who led all thirty laps of the feature for the $5,500 to prize, with Colby Thornhill racing to second place in the feature behind him. While Starks suffered a DNF, he did win the Owner’s Championship for his team.

Starks wrapped up the Driver’s and Owner’s Championship in the 360 division with a dominating performance in what was a stop and start A Feature. Trey led every lap in front of the field, with Jesse Schlotfeldt and Robbie Price duking it out behind him for the runner up spot, with Schlotfeldt eventually capturing 2nd for good.

Kai Dixon put the exclamation point on his excellent 2024 by winning the main event and season championship in the Sportsman Sprints. Dixon led all twenty five laps of the main event, keeping Levi Hillier out of the top spot on his way to his first Skagit Speedway title. Hillier and Alden Ostrom rounded out the podium.

In the Skagit Aggregates IMCA Modifieds, Jeff Westergard finished out his stellar year by leading all 25 laps of the feature and rolling away with the track championship to go with it. Ben Gunderson was challenged early and often for his runner up spot but never gave it up to equal his best finish, while Alan Grimbly was third.

Mike Guffey set a new track record in the Hornet class and took the lead from Biran Michelson on lap seven of the main event to finish his year off with a win. Steve Peters was second and Wyatt Covert was third. Michelson secured his second track championship despite a DNF in the main.
