Cade Dillard
Top-10 finish in Firecracker opener at Lernerville
Cade Dillard debuted with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals on Wednesday afternoon as the series invaded La Salle Speedway (LaSalle, Ill.) for the sixth round of the Hell Tour. In a field of 35 cars, Dillard timed in fourth fastest in his group before placing second in his heat race, trailing Ryan Unzicker. On Thursday morning, Cade and crew trekked to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) to the track where he picked up his biggest career payday ($30,000) a year prior. Drawing 53 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries for 15th annual Firecracker 100 weekend, Dillard locked his spot into the preliminary feature with an eight-lap heat race victory. With $6,000 on the line, Cade lost one spot to register a seventh-place finish.
For another preliminary feature on Friday afternoon, Cade grabbed the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat, which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the A-Main. Dropping five positions in the 30-lap affair, Dillard logged a 21st-place outing.
With preliminary results determining the starting lineups for heat races on Saturday, Dillard outran fellow front-row starter Chub Frank in his heat to pick up the win. Receiving the pole position for the $30,000-to-win Firecracker 100 via the redraw, Cade was running up front early but slipped back to 12th after getting over the backstretch banking on lap 18.
Cade remains in fifth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
