Inside Line Promotions – SARVER, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2018) – Jason Sides registered his fifth top 10 of the season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series last Friday at Eldora Speedway during the BeFour the Crowns Showdown.

“That was like a win,” he said. “We haven’t seen a top 10 in a while. It gives you some kind of confidence. We were trying some different stuff and it seemed to work at Eldora.”

Sides qualified 11th quickest in his group and he advanced a position to finish fifth in a heat race, which locked him into the 17th starting position for the A Main at the half-mile oval near Rossburg, Ohio.

“We’re always doing the same thing,” he said. “I went with what I watched in the B Main and what I felt like it needed. It was pretty dang good. We got to eighth. On the last restart the bleeder had turned off. I couldn’t hold the bottom the last six or eight laps. When we came in we had too much air in the left rear. I think if that didn’t happen we would have finished seventh or eighth, but we’re just happy to get out of there with a top 10.”

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Lernerville Speedway with the Commonwealth Clash. Sides timed in 22nd quickest and he again gained a position in a heat race to end fifth. This time he started the main event on the outside of the ninth row.

“The track was smooth as glass and was shiny,” he said. “I thought maybe the setup we ran at Eldora would work there as well on the bottom. It was decent in turns one and two, but in turns three and four it was too wet. We kept getting way too tight. It’d want to do wheelies as you came of the corner.”

Sides advanced a spot to finish 17th.

He will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the Champion Racing Oil National Open with the World of Outlaws.

“I always look forward to going there,” he said. “The pill draw is the most important because you want to be out early. And then make it through your heat race.

“I also want to offer my thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Greg Hodnett as well as his team. Greg was a great driver and a friend and he will be missed.”
