Action Track Preview: Kent and Ruth Jr Lead RUSH Sprints Into Wednesday Night Mayhem Series
Sarver, PA (June 19, 2018) We kickoff Firecracker 100 week with something completely different in 2018, allowing an extra night of racing to what has become one of the most anticipated weeks of racing in Western, PA. The RUSH Sprint Cars make their third visit of the season to The Action Track on Wednesday night as our second RK Virgile Wild About The Weekend Mayhem Season hits the track. Round one on May 16 saw two drivers put on a clinic in the debut of the weekly series as Arnie Kent held off a strong challenge from Gale Ruth Jr for 14 of the 20 laps in the main event as the two ran either side by side or nose to tail with Kent emerging as the winner when all was said and done.
In round two back on June 1 in a special appearance as part of Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions night, Ruth started on the front row, assumed the lead and never looked back collecting his first RUSH Sprint Car victory while Kent was unable to find the same kind of bite that he did in round one as he came home with a fifth place finish. One driver to look out for will be Zach Morrow who finished second to Ruth and was closing in on the leader in the waning laps.
On Wedenesday night, the RUSH Sprints will be partaking in their second "Wednesday Night Lightning" appearance of 2018 where Kent and Ruth remained tied for the points lead followed by Dalton Daniels, Dave Hawkins and Scott Hawkins. The series combines the results from all six scheduled RUSH Sprint Car appearances as part of the RK Virgile Mayhem Series events.
The American Steel Processing 4 Cylinders will also be in action on Wednesday night. In their last Mayhem Series appearance, Dillon Speer put the field behind him with authority and stayed their for the remainder of their 15 lap main event while Patrick Crawford and Matthew Rubright put on a thrilling battle for the remaining podium spots. The Gellners Sales and Service UTV's will also be on hand as they make their way around the infield course while using part of the frontsretch and turns one and two. Pat McGuire took the honors in the first race night in May.
Pit gates will open at 4 PM with grandstands opening at 5 PM and racing starting at 7:30 pm sharp. General admission for adults, seniors, and students ages 11-17 is $10 while children 10 and under are free of charge. Pit passes are available for $25 for DIRTcar Members and $30 for non-members.
