Extended East Coast Swing for Kraig Kinser as the 'Month of Money' Continues

The second East Coast Swing of the season has always been jam-packed for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series. With the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s at Lernerville Speedway and the Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway anchoring the stretch of races during this portion of the “Month of Money,” along with the series annual trek to Lebanon Valley Speedway. The summer East Coast Swing will be bolstered even more this year by visits to both Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania, and Fulton Speedway in New York. In total, seven feature events will be contested in a nine-day span. For Kraig Kinser, this stretch of races will provide plenty of seat time.

The second East Coast Swing opens for Kinser, who drives the Mesilla Valley Transportation/Casey’s General Store/King Racing Products Maxim, on Tuesday, July 15, at Lernerville Speedway with the running of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s. Action then shifts to Lincoln Speedway on Thursday, July 17. The series invades the historic Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19 for the Summer Nationals. A visit to Lebanon Valley Speedway is set for Sunday, July 20, with a jaunt to Fulton Speedway on-tap, Wednesday, July 23.

“With all the races coming up and the travel they entail, this is a time of the year when you really have to pay attention to the small details,” said Kinser. “We have been working on a number of little things lately, especially our qualifying package and hopefully some of that pays off this week. The Silver Cup always has a great field of cars and then when we get to Central Pennsylvania, we know how tough the competition there always is. We’ll keep plugging away and working at it day in and day out.”

Kinser missed qualifying for the Don Martin Memorial Twin 30s each of the last two seasons. He finished 21st and 19th in the doubleheader event in 2011. In his career at the four-tenths-mile just outside of Pittsburgh, the native of Bloomington, Indiana, has four top-10 finishes. He came home a career-best fourth in the Commonwealth Clash in 2011. The fall race at Lernerville was rained out last year.

The third-generation driver has made one start at Lincoln Speedway this season, finishing 26th back in May. Kinser has made three appearances at the three-eighths-mile near Hanover, Pennsylvania, dating back to 2012.

Kinser has made two feature event starts at Williams Grove thus far in 2014. He finished 11th on May 16, and was 19th on the following night. He has a total of nine top-10 finishes at the uniquely-shaped half-mile in his career, including a career-best fourth-place showing during the 2012 Summer Nationals.

Last season at the blazing fast, high-banks of Lebanon Valley Speedway, Kinser came home 14th. A pair of 10th-place finishes, including in his debut at the track in 2004, stand as his best performances at the venue.

Kinser has raced twice at Fulton Speedway in his career. He finished fourth in his most reason start at the three-eighths-mile in 2010. In his debut at Fulton in 2004, the 2005 winner of the Knoxville Nationals was eighth. Next week’s race will mark the first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event at the track since 2010.

Kinser opened the “Month of Money” last week, with an eighth-place finish in the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park in Ohio. He was 18th in the Knight Before the Kings Royal at the famed Eldora Speedway and 22nd in the 31st running of the Kings Royal. He is currently ninth in the series standings on the strength of 18 top-10 finishes.

“We’ve had some good runs at the tracks we are headed to and also have had some bad luck at some of them,” Kinser said. “You have to treat each race as a new one and put the race before it behind you, no matter where you finish. You want to ride the strong finishes as long as you can, but with a bunch of races in a short time, you have to always be looking forward. This is the type of stretch that makes the World of Outlaws the series that it is.”
