Brendan Young Breaks Through for First Career Win in Oswego County Tourism 350 Super Feature

OSWEGO, NY (July 12, 2025) - One week after coming just a few feet short of his first career Oswego Speedway win, Dryden, NY’s Brendan Young was not to be denied on Saturday night, collecting an emotional first career feature victory in the Oswego County Tourism 350 Supermodified division.

Starting from the outside of the front row, Young quickly powered to the lead, driving around polesitter Barry Kingsley and immediately setting the pace out in front.

All eyes were on sixth-starting Kyle Perry, who came into the night on a two-race win streak and was looking to make it three in a row. Perry worked his way forward early, getting around Dawson Hawksby and Dave Cliff to break into the top four, then making a bold move to the outside of both third-running Talen Hawksby and Kingsley to grab second in the opening laps.

By lap 3, Talen Hawksby also found a way by Kingsley to take third, with Cliff moving into fourth and Brian Sobus charging into fifth from eighth by the halfway point.

As the laps wound down, Perry began to reel Young in, setting up what looked to be another thrilling finish between the pair. With five to go, Perry took a shot to the outside in turns three and four, but this time Young shut the door and held strong out front, driving to his long-awaited first career win at the Steel Palace.

Young was the nineteenth different driver to win a 350 Super feature at Oswego, and a well-earned triumph for the longtime Oswego Speedway fan and 2023 rookie driver, who had already amassed five podium finishes - three runner-ups and two third-place runs - before finally breaking through for a well deserved victory.

“This feels pretty damn good,” Young said in victory lane. “Obviously, Kyle got me for the win last week with a couple hundred feet left to go and I looked up at lap 15 and saw he was behind me again and I said - not this time. I adjusted my line a little bit to try to protect the outside. I knew he’d try that because he has been rolling it really, really good all year long. He has that thing hooked up. In the heat they absolutely blew by everybody, so I knew I’d have my work cut out for me when I saw the 20 in second and I’m just so thankful to finally get it done here.”

Young’s first win came driving a Muldoon Chassis car that he picked up in the offseason. He also thanked his loyal supporters, adding, “I have to thank Tracey Road, Lindsey Aggregates, CNY Motorsports, Dryden Hotel, KML Transportation, Chemung Supply, and the fans that came out tonight even though the big blocks aren’t here. I have to also thank everyone standing here - my stepdad Steve and my Dad for all their work, my Mom, Dave who’s been coming up all week. We work on this thing all the time. My brother-in-law Zach and my sister are home this weekend unfortunately, but I’m glad they got to see us run as well - and shoutout to Jerry Curran for his birthday tonight.”

The Novelis Supermodifieds, Pathfinder Bank SBS, and Oswego County Tourism 350 Supers all return to the Steel Palace this Saturday, July 19, for a big night of racing presented by Children’s Museum of Oswego, Oswego County Habitat for Humanity, and Chase Enterprises. The event will also feature Autograph Night and a Bike Giveaway.
