B Mods, Hobby Stocks, & Dwarf Cars Added to Gold Cup Race
CHICO, Calif., Aug 29, 2022…SLC Promotions is excited to announce the addition of our local B mods and Hobby Stocks divisions to this year’s 68th Gold Cup Race of Champions presented by Riebes Napa Auto Parts. Only the top 20 in each division will be invited. On Saturday night, the popular Dwarf Cars have been invited to accompany the World of Outlaw Nos Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
The B Mod division is scheduled to run on Thursday night, September 8. Phillip Shelby recently won the track championship and will be one of the favorites to win the 20-lap race on Thursday night.
Zach Lindgren claimed the Hobby Stock championship this past Friday night. A plethora of drivers will join Lindgren on Friday night, September 9, to try and win Gold Cup bragging rights.
Both divisions are being offered a $350 payday to win their main event.
SLC Promotions will be contacting the drivers this week to offer them a spot for this year. Only invited drivers are allowed to race.
“We know the B mods and Hobby Stocks had a shortened season and we wanted to try and find one more race for them,� said Colby Copeland of SLC Promotions. “I think adding these two divisions to the Gold Cup was the perfect spot. We wanted to give them the chance to race in front of a lot of fans during our biggest event.� He concluded by saying. “We wanted to give the drives and teams who supported us in our first season of promoting this opportunity.�
Wednesday September 7th, the 68th Gold Cup Race of Champions begins with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and the Hunt Wingless Series. Pit gate opens at 2 pm. Front grandstand gate opens at 4 pm.
Thursday through Saturday the World of Outlaws Nos Energy Drink Sprint Car Series takes center stage. Over $200,000 purse is on the line during their three nights of racing. The Saturday night winner will take home a staggering $25,000.
