(8/26/22)…On a busy night at Silver Dollar Speedway Two Track Champions were crowned and some new winners rose to the occasion to score first career wins at Silver Dollar. The B-Modifieds & Hobby Stock divisions crowned Track Champions and handed out the Perpetual Trophies to Main Event Winners, while the California vs. BCRA Lightning Sprint Civil War waged on as well.
In the B-Modified Class Olivehurst, CA driver Phillip Shelby had a dominant season. Shelby came into the night having swept Main Event action so far this season with 4 Main Event Victories! He sealed up the Track Championship just by rolling his #86 onto the speedway for the Main Event. However, there was still a big trophy on the line and the race for the win was incredible!
Keith Foux got the lead early in the race looking for his first career triumph at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Foux was running as low on the track as possible to keep his car in the moisture. Phillip Shelby was doing the opposite. Shelby had the 86-machine slinging mud off the cushion as he tried to reel in Foux. Coming to take the white flag it was a two-car race for the win. Coming off turn four Shelby got a little too wide and smacked the front stretch wall and spun to a stop bringing his race to an end one lap from the finish. That allowed Keith Foux to cruise to his first career win at Silver Dollar and take home the Perpetual Trophy to Red Bluff. He was followed across the line by newcomer Jace Wright from Gazelle, CA in 2nd. With the #7x of Scott Savell coming home 3rd.
The Shelby’s Pest Control Hobby Stock Championship battle saw 6 drivers go into the Main Event with at least an outside shot at taking the title. All season long, the #72L of Zach Lindgren has been hustling around the top side of the racetrack which made for some incredible finishes. The situation was a little different on this night though, Zach knew what he had to do to claim the Championship and he did just that. He slotted himself into the 2nd position and rolled the bottom all race long to score enough points to earn himself the Track Championship!
In Main Event competition, the #17c of Brian Cooper got out front early and set the cruise control as he dominated the Main Event en route to his first Hobby Stock win since 2015 at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Cooper has many big wins on his resume at Silver Dollar and now can add another as he gets to take home another Perpetual Trophy Night Win. Zach Lindgren piloted his #72L to a Championship clinching 2nd place finish. While Yuma, AZ driver Bo Miller drove his #9 entry to a 3rd place finish in his Silver Dollar Speedway debut.
Accompanying our regular divisions of racing this week were the California vs. BCRA Lightning Sprints. Their Main Event came down to the final lap with Fillmore, CA driver Connor Spier holding on for the win in his #57 entry by a half car length over the #8 of Will Browne. Mr. Consistent, Eric Greco Jr. piloted his #8g to a 3rd place finish. CA Lightning Sprint Point Leader David Gasper came across the line in 4th in his #18 entry. With early race leader Cody Meyer scoring the 5th finishing position in his #21c.
We will be back in action at the Silver Dollar Speedway in less than two weeks as the Gold Cup Race of Champions will begin on Wednesday, September 7th and run through Saturday, September 10th with four nights of exciting action.
