Henry Wins Tribute to Stephen Allard

Silver Dollar Speedway                                            FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kalib Henry Drives to a Fall Nationals Title

(10-02-21) Chico, CA…A robust 69-winged 360 sprint cars lined the pit area of the Silver Dollar Speedway Saturday night October 2nd.  The allure was not only the $5,000 winner’s payday but the chance to call yourself a Fall Nationals in Tribute to Stephen Allard winner.  That is exactly what Kalib Henry and the McColloch racing No. 17 was able to shout out in victory lane after an exciting 40-lap finale.  Henry started the main event in 10th and rocketed towards the top right away.  By lap 25 he had taken the lead away from seventh place starting Corey Day.  Henry led the final 15 laps with ease.  The win was also exciting for the 21-year-old driver because it marked his first career winged sprint car win at Chico.  “I used to run here on Friday nights and was never able to get a win, said Henry.  Tonight, he added his name to a long list of race winners at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

Second spot went to Justin Sanders who led the first ten laps of the feature event.  Sanders was passed by Corey Day on lap 11.  On lap 20 Sanders fell to third when Henry passed him.  On lap 25, Day fell from the lead to third.  Sanders moved back into second but was never able to catch Henry.  Day finished third and will one day soon capture his first career win at Chico.  Five-time Fall Nationals champion Tim Kaeding started ninth and quickly moved to fourth by lap 13.  From there Kaeding neither gained a spot or lost the spot and finished fourth.  The hard charger of the night was Colby Copeland.  He came straight out of the B main, started last and charged his way to a fifth-place finish.  What a triumph for him and his team.

The Hobby Stock main evert was excellent.  The lead of the race changed spots for the first eight laps of the race.  Yet, once Bill Patterson took the lead on lap eight, he never looked back.  He withstood heavy pressure from Toby Merrifield and Todd Cooper near the end of the race to get the popular win.  Patterson just recently came back into racing and looks like he made the right decision to get behind the wheel.  Four different drivers had a share of the lead during those first eight laps.  Todd Cooper, Zach Lindgren, and Kyle Cheney joined Patterson as early leaders.  Jacob Johnson moved into second on lap 10 but a mechanical issue sidelined him on lap 13.  Cooper finished in second place.  Merrifield came across the finish line in third.  Tenth place starting Aaron Flournoy finished fourth.  Fifth place went to last nights winner Shannon Collins.

Jacob Johnson, James West, and Joe Gillock each won their eight-lap heat race.  A total of 19 Hobby Stocks attended tonight’s race.

Jodie Robinson won the 15-lap B main event.  Willie Croft ran second.  Copeland third and Tanner Holmes in fourth.  Brian McGahan Jr. and John Clarke each won their 12-lap C main events.  Dominic Scelzi was fastest in group two qualifying at a 12.067.  Ryan Robinson was fastest in group one with a 12.111.
