67th Gold Cup is Back and Better Than Ever

Silver Dollar Speedway                                            FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

67th Gold Cup is Back and Better Than Ever

(9-6-21) Chico, CA…This year’s 67th rendition of the Gold Cup has seen a resurgence of fans, campers, and pre-entered sprint cars. The excitement for this upcoming week of racing and activities is palpable.  The anticipation of this longstanding event is also apparent due to the postponement of the 2020 Gold Cup.  We are happy and proud that the tradition and pageantry of the Gold Cup continues to soar.

The on-track racing will feature the best of the best when it comes to winged 360 sprint cars, wingless spec sprints and the World of Outlaws Nos Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.  The Platinum Cup will kick start the racing on Wednesday September 8th.  A strong field of cars have already pre-entered the opening night race.  A new mix of drivers have entered Thursday nights show with the possibility of some Wednesday night drivers canceling their Wednesday night points and starting all over again on Thursday night.  Wingless Spec Sprints are on tap for two individual nights of racing.  Each night the main event winner will be awarded $1,000.

Starting Tuesday September 7th, please visit the ticket box office (small white office) located just behind the main grandstands.  The ticket office is open from 9 am to 4 pm.  If you cannot get to the ticket office, PLEASE CALL THE TRACK PHONE at (530) 891-6535 to reserve tickets or if you have any quick questions.  The best source for Gold Cup information is located at www.silverdollarspeedway.com, then click on the Gold Cup pull down menu.

General admission tickets are as low as $15 on Wednesday and $20 on Thursday.  Reserved Seating, Wed. $25, Thurs $30, Friday $45, and Saturday $55. General admission for Friday is $30, and Saturday $40. Kids are FREE Wed and Thursday in the general admission area. Kids are $15 for Friday and $20 for Saturday in general admission.  These are amazing prices!  There is nothing better than being at a live event and watching from the stands with your family.  It is where memories are made.

Friday night the Greatest Show on Dirt returns to Silver Dollar Speedway.  The last time the Outlaws competed at Chico was September of 2019.  Drivers like Brad Sweet, Kasey Kahne, Donny Schatz, and David Gravel will compete against our best led by Justin Sanders and Dominic Scelzi, each fresh off main event wins at the Louie Vermeil hosted by the Silver Dollar Speedway.  Add Kyle Hirst, Sean Becker, Bud Kaeding, and 2019 NARC champion DJ Netto to the mix, the local Californians have as good of a shot to go for the Gold and win it all on Saturday nights finale.

Special events throughout the week of Gold Cup include the Black Out Party following the Thursday night race and is located outside the turn four area on the campground side.  Friday the 34th annual Clyde Lamar Gold Cup Gold Classic will take place at Bidwell Golf Course.  The Joe Hunt Magnetos Chili Feed and Bikini Contest is a fan favorite and once again will take place inside the pavilion on Friday night following the races.  Saturday afternoon, the JP’s Paint and Body Works Fan Appreciation BBQ hosted by the Dave Angus and his misfits from the Placerville area is FREE for the fans, drivers, and campers.  This also takes place just outside turn number four and right outside the pavilion.

Anyone without a reserved camping spot, still wanting to camp, will need to register at the front booth (dedicated to campers) located at the main entrance of the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds.  This means the remaining camping spots are first come, first serve at $50 per night.  It is recommended to arrive between 8am to 4pm when we have plenty of staff to collect the fees and place you in your spot.  There will be staff after hours to help, but they will just place somewhere for the night and the day crew will assist in moving you as needed.

General admission tickets are available by phone or online at www.silverdollarspeedway.com and include seating in the lower half of the bleachers in Turn 1 and Turn 4 only. These seats are on a first come first serve basis. Kids 11 and under are free on Wednesday and Thursday only.

All reserved and general admission tickets will also be available at the gate each night beginning at 5PM and from 9 AM to 4 PM daily in the ticket office at the track the week of Gold Cup.
