Cox and Winter Share Silver Cup Wins
(CHICO, CA – March 13, 2020)…Justyn Cox wasted no time putting the rest of California on notice with a dominant 40-lap win Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway. In the offseason, Cox joined the potent C&M Motorsports No. 7c sprint car team and right out of the gate this combination proved it will be a winning one. Cox led all 40-laps to win the winged 360 feature event. For Cox it was his second career win at Chico. A solid 33 winged 360 sprint cars attended the Friday night Silver Cup race
Sean Becker is also with a new team. Becker joined the Van Lare No. 5v team and tonight they showed a lot of speed. Becker raced his way into the second position. While at times he was able to keep up with Cox, in the end he just didn’t have what it took to make a pass. Shane Golobic moved his Matt Wood racing No. 17w into a third place finish tonight. Golobic continues to be a model of consistency and one of the leaders for West Coast sprint car racing. Chase Majdic was a factor all night and finished fourth. Blake Carrick came from the B main all the way up to a fifth-place finish. A win is right around the corner for this 15-year old.
John Michael Bunch retuned to winged sprint car racing and won the first 8-lap heat race. Tanner Carrick earned the win in heat two. Becker won the third heat. Majdic picked up the win in heat four. Michael Faccinto was the fast time winner.
Ryan Winter started fourth during the 20-lap Dwarf Car feature event but just like always, was hunting for the lead early on. By lap four, Winter had thrusted himself into the lead. Yet, Josh King wanted a taste of the lead too. King officially led lap seven. On the next circuit Winter was back in the lead, a place he would not relinquish. Seventh place starting Shawn Jones battled all race long to get towards the top. On the final lap he raced neck and neck with Mike Grenert. The two battled towards the finish line. It was so close, but Jones was credited with second at the line. Grenert came home in third. Ryan Plexico started eighth and finished fourth. King came home in fifth. As always, the Dwarf Cars brought a great group of drivers, 23 in total, and put on a great show. Shawn Whitney, Mike Reeder and Josh King each won their 8-lap heat race.
