Joining Larson on Thursday night are a plethora of stars and cars led by Chico’s own Jonathan Allard. For Allard, this will be his first start in over a year at his hometown track. Allard, the 2014 Gold Cup Champion, will try and challenge Larson, the 2010 and 2011 Gold Cup Champion, for the $5,000 first place main event money. Add in 2016 and 2018 Gold Cup Champion, Rico Abreu of St. Helena, CA, and this Thursday night show is top heavy with drivers who know how to strive for the Gold.

Larson is currently 11th in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series point standings. He sits safely above the playoff cutoff line, top 16 in points make playoffs, with just two more races to go. Once Larson makes the playoffs, himself, and 15 other drivers will have a shot to win the Monster Energy Cup Championship.

The King of the West-NARC Fujitsu 410 Sprint Car Series is led by Hanford’s D.J. Netto. He holds a slim eight-point edge over Hollister’s Ryan Bernal. Sacramento’s Willie Croft, Campbell’s Bud Kaeding and Fresno’s Dominic Scelzi round out the top five. Sebastopol’s Geoff Ensign and Atwater’s Nathan Rolfe are both top contenders looking to pull the upset Thursday night.

Locally, current Silver Dollar Speedway point leader Sean Becker, of Roseville, CA, will be one of the favorites. Add in four-time track champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn, Chico’s Michael Ing, six main event wins in 2019, and 2001 Silver Dollar Speedway track champion Tim Kaeding, who is teaming up with Rod Tiner Racing and driving the familiar No.83sa, and this Thursday night is shaping up to be filled with superstar power.

The series moves to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico for Thursday Night Thunder (August 22nd) and concludes with the lucrative two-day Champions Classic at the Stockton Dirt Track (August 23-24th).
