FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Platinum Cup Goes Gold
Chico, CA (Aug 4, 2019) …. We are exactly 30 days away from the start of the 66th Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway. This traditional four day event is changing up the format this year with the addition of a two-night winged 360 sprint car show called the Platinum Cup. The Platinum Cup will kick off things starting on Wednesday night, September 4th, and concluding the following night, September 5th. Last season, the Platinum Cup was a one-night show that attracted 46 competitors. This year by adding the second night and more money, we are hopeful to turn this event in to a mainstay for years to come at the Gold Cup.
With the theme of the God Cup in mind, this years Platinum Cup will utilize the current World of Outlaw format. The only exception is, on Wednesday night, the top four finishers in the main event will be locked into the following nights dash. This means, you show up Wednesday and run top four, you are guaranteed a Thursday night start in the $4,000 to win feature event.
The Platinum Cup should serve as a melting pot featuring all the cars and stars from Northern California. Paradise’s Kyle Hirst, Auburn’s Andy Forsberg, Roseville’s Sean Becker and Lemoore’s Cole Macedo are scheduled to appear both nights. More than likely a handful of out of town drivers will also attend. More information about who is scheduled to participate will be released as the we draw closer to the event.
Reserved tickets for all four days are currently available through the track business office at $150. Individual days go on sale August 15. Plenty of seats are available and can even be purchase at the gate on race night. Camping is also plentiful but may only be reserved for the week at $200. Individual nights may be purchased on site for $40 per night with some limitations on RV hookups.
The Gold Cup has long been known for the tradition, family, the experience, and fun. In some cases, the third or fourth generation of a family continues the Gold Cup experience.
Information is at the track website, www.silverdollarspeedway.com or from the track business office which is open 9 to 4 Monday through Thursday at 530-350-7275. Emails can be addressed to info@silverdollarspeedway.com.
