Kids Bike Night Races Back at Chico
Chico, CA (July 29, 2019) …. After a two-week hiatus the stars and cars are set to return to the Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday night, August 2nd. Four divisions will entertain the crowd led by the powerful winged 360 sprint cars, Street Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods and Hobby Stocks.
The Bike Night at the speedway has been a longstanding tradition that allows the kids from the grandstands to venture out to the track and compete against other kids in their own age group. Trophies and ribbons are presented to the competitors at the finish line. The Speedway will also raffle off a few bikes that are donated by generous sponsors. The best part about this family fun filled night is kids 11 and under are FREE. Remember to bring your bike and helmet to race on the track. The bike races usually take place after all the heat races are completed.
Pit gate opens at 4 PM. Front grandstand gate opens at 6 PM. Adult general admission is $15.00. Seniors (62+) and juniors (12-15) and military with proper i.d. are $13.00. Kids 11 and under are FREE. Parking for fans is FREE. Racing is slated to start at 7 PM.
Kyle Offill leads the winged 360 sprint car point standings. The Tracy, CA teenager is attempting something new, winning the sprint car title and rookie of the Year award in the same season. Of course, he has some big help propelling him to the top. Former Gold Cup Champion and Silver Dollar Speedway sprint car star Jonathan Allard has served as crew chief all season for Offill. Allard has 62 career wins at Chico and his knowledge has helped turn Offill from rookie to championship contender. Can Offill hold off the likes of Sean Becker, Andy Forsberg and Michael Ing? You will only know if you go this Friday night and watch.
Matt Micheli is having a big-time season. The Live Oak resident leads two of the divisions point standings headed into this Friday. Micheli holds a two-point edge over Brent Lawrence in the Street Stocks and a 62-point advantage over Scott Savell in the IMCA Sport Mod standings. It would be quite the feat to win separate division titles in the same year.
The other big story of the season has been the dominance of Cherokee’ s Kyle Allen in the Hobby Stock division. Allen has won all six main events he has competed in this year at Chico. Can his streak continue? Or will a new competitor emerge to knock him down a few finishing spots this Friday night. James West, Shannon Collins, Zach Lindgren and Jeremiah Creedon are drivers who could dethrone Allen.
