Silver Dollar Speedway to Host Auto Racing and Fireworks on July 4th

Chico, CA (June 27, 2018) – A longstanding family tradition returns to Chico on July 4th as the Silver Dollar Speedway plays host to the Fast Cars and Freedom event at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Championship auto racing on the famed quarter-mile high banked clay oval will begin at 6 PM. Following the races, the sky will ignite with a gigantic and patriotic firework show that will entertain your entire family. The night is filled with family fun including patriotic music, American themed food and ice-cold drinks. Four racing divisions will be in attendance led by the winged 360 sprint cars, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks.
Adult general admission is $17.00 into the grandstands. Juniors are $14.00 each. Kids 11 and under are Free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be bought early by visiting www.silverdollarspeedway.com
Pit gate for the competitors and crews will open at 3 PM. Front grandstand gate for the fans will open at 5 PM. Winged sprint car qualifying will start around 5:30 PM with racing to follow. Once again, kids 11 and under are FREE when accompanied by an adult.
Paradise’s Kyle Hirst, the recent winner of the 6th Annual David Tarter Memorial, leads a lengthy list of talented winged 360 sprint car drivers into the Wednesday night show. Joining him will be Sacramento’s Kalib Henry, Princeton’s Mason Moore, Chico’s Michael Ing, Brad Bumgarner and Kenny Allen, Plumas Lake’s Raquel Hall and Susanville’s Chelsea Blevins.
Grass Valley’s Andrew Peckham and Yuba City’s Brian Cooper will continue their battle for the top spot in the IMCA Sport Mods. This year, 35 different drivers have earned championship points in at least one of the seven races held at Chico. On average, 16 IMCA Sport Mods have attended each race. The racing is thrilling, close and provides great finishes. Always a fan favorite, the July 4th crowd will not be disappointed by this division.
The Street Stock division will provide side-by-side door banging action on Wednesday night. Corey Hall leads a plethora of talented drivers and teams in the Street Stock division. Street Stocks have a long history of racing on July 4th at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Local favorite Jeremy Langenderfer has won two of the previous Hobby Stock races in 2018. The division is littered with top notch drivers who fit and claw for every inch on the speedway.
