Fast Cars and Freedom on July 4th

CHICO, CA (7-3-17) - Fresh off a successful Friday night of racing, the Silver Dollar Speedway is back open on Tuesday night, July 4th, as we celebrate America's Independence with Fast Cars and Freedom. The Silver Dollar Speedway will once again host auto races and gigantic aerial fireworks. The combination of race cars and fireworks has been a Chico tradition and offers a great family night filled with patriotic music, live singing, racing hero's and the best fireworks show in the area. The crowd will be entertained by the 410-winged sprint cars, street stocks, hobby stocks and IMCA sport mods. This will be a night that the family will truly enjoy considering all kids 11 and under, accompanied by an adult, are FREE.

The pit gate will open at 3 PM while the front grandstands will open at 5 PM. Racing is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM. The adult general admission ticket will cost $17.00. Juniors are $14.00 and kids 11 and under are FREE.

The night will feature four of our popular divisions led by the 410 winged sprints. Auburn's Andy Forsberg continues to lead the point standings but can't shake the 17-year-old front runner named Michael Ing. Forsberg only leads Ing by eight points. Redding's Chase Majdic led for a majority of the Friday night main event only to fall back to a third-place finish. Majdic is only seven points behind Ing for second. Chico's Brad Bumgarner sits fourth while Sacramento's Kalib Henry is only two points behind in fifth.

The IMCA Sport Mods continue to put on a great show. Led by Phillip Shelby with his three wins in seven starts, the series continues to feature great drivers surrounded by good teams. Justin Foux sits in the second spot and is on the verge of his first win at Chico. Tyler Rodgers has been solid all season as is Shane Devolder. Sean Halterman continues to add another solid car to the field.

Phil Marino was back in victory lane Friday night as he enjoyed his fourth win of the season. The former-time track champion leads Gary Newman by 18 championship points now. A full field of street stocks should be attending this big night of racing.

The Earl's Plumbing Hobby Stock championship is led by Cherokee's Kyle Allen. Allen currently holds a large 26-point edge over Chico's Shannon Collins. This year the hobby stocks have been racing for money thanks to Earl's Plumbing.

To avoid standing in long lines the Speedway now has an on-line purchase tickets option located at www.silverdollarspeedway.com.Full results please visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com
