Friday night, June 30th, point race No. 8 takes place led by the 410-winged sprint cars, wingless sprints, sport mods, street stocks and vintage hard tops.

Auburn's Andy Forsberg continues to lead the 410-winged sprint car series. Yet, the last two races have seen teenager Michael Ing of Chico close in on Forsberg. Ing has chiseled away at the lead and now is just 4 markers back of Forsberg. Keeping chase is a kid named Chase. Chase Majdic is only eight points shy of Forsberg and four back from Ing. The championship battle has been hotly contested all season and this Friday will be no different. Chico's Brad Bumgarner is the fourth driver to have attempted all six starts this season during the 410-sprint car point shows and has scored an impress four top ten main event finishes.
Orland's Tony Richards is the new point leader of the wingless sprint car standings. Terry Schank Jr. missed the previous race because of motor issues. Richards won the main event and is now the driver to beat. Chico's Craig Swim has been a consistent force all year and is only ten points back of Richards. Redding's Casey McClain sits fourth in the standings and is one three drivers who has attended every point race at Chico.
In six starts, Phillip Shelby has two wins and leads the IMCA Sport Mod standings by 14 over Justin Foux. Foux is still searching for his first win at Chico. Tyler Rodgers is just five back of Foux. Both Foux and Rodgers have been great supporters of the track. Keith Brown and Mark Abouzeid have both routinely been near the front at Chico.
Phil Marino finally lost a street stock main event. The current point leader, Marino, was finally dethroned by Phillip Shelby. As noted above, Shelby leads the sport mod standing also. Marino still holds a 12-point advantage over veteran Gary Newman. Richard Workman, Mike Slightom and Fritz Zanker follow the top two. These above mentioned five drivers have participated in all four-prior point shows for the street stocks.
The vintage hard tops had nine drivers compete at Chico back on May 12th. Rob Waldrop won both the heat race and main event that evening. This Friday marks the final visit of the year for the hard tops at Chico.
