Championship Auto Racing Returns This Friday Night

CHICO, CA (6-5-17) - After nearly a month off, the 410-sprint car championship auto racing resumes this Friday night, June 9th. The last time the 410-winged sprint car hit the famed clay on Silver Dollar Speedway was May 12th. Joining them this Friday night are the IMCA Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks and the 600 Micro Sprints.

Heather Cooper, Keller Williams Realty Chico Area, and Bodie Shepherd, Movement Mortgage, are sponsoring this Friday nights racing action for the third consecutive year. If any race fan in this area is looking for a new house or loan we highly recommend these two great supporters of racing.

The pit gate will open at 4 PM while the front grandstands will open at 6 PM. Racing is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM. The adult general admission ticket will cost $14.00. On this night seniors and juniors are $12.00 with children just $6.00. Kids five and under are FREE.

To avoid standing in long lines the Speedway now has an on-line purchase tickets option located at www.silverdollarspeedway.com.

Auburns Andy Forsberg has been then driver to beat this year at Chico. He currently leads Michael Ing by eight points in the point standings. Forsberg has won two of the four main events ran this year during the Friday night point shows. Other winners include Sean Becker and Kyle Hirst. Chase Majdic sits in the third spot, seven points behind Ing. Brad Bumgarner and Braedon Enos round out the top five.

Kyle Allen holds a big lead over Shannon Collins in the Earls Plumbing Hobby Stock championship. The 18-point advantage is the largest out of any other division battle.

Phil Marino is undefeated in 2017. Marino is three for three during Street Stock main event racing. Ten points behind him is Brent Lawrence in second. Following Lawrence closely is Gary Newman who is just two points back in the third spot. Richard Workman and Mike Slightom round out the top five.

IMCA Sport Mods are led by Phillip Shelby. With one main event win this year, Shelby leads Keith Brown by just one point. Justin Foux holds down the third spot. Tyler Rodgers is fourth. Brian Cooper has the most wins, with two, but currently is only in the fifth spot of the points chase.

For the first time at the Speedway, the 600 Micro Sprints get a chance to race around the famed quarter-mile clay oval speedway.
