Brown and Schank Jr. Win Again at Chico
CHICO, CA (5-6-17) -Â Chico's Wyatt Brown scored his second win of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night during the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. Brown swept the night in the economy winged sprints by also winning the lone heat race for the division. Brown continues to be the class of the field for the second consecutive season. Mike Ficklin finished in the second spot followed by Mike Sayre who came home in the third spot. Corning's David Johnson finished in the fourth spot. Adam Ermolenko, the Friday night main event winner, was credited with a fifth-place finish.
For the 35-time in his career Terry Schank Jr. won the wingless sprint car main event. The win also reached another milestone for Schank and his Joe Hunt Magneto's #1. According to their released, Schank has now won exactly 100 main events while piloting the #1 over the past numerous years. A great accomplishment to a well put together team. Tony Richards at one point seemed like the driver to edge out Schank. Even when he was passed for the lead, Richards never gave up and battled with Schank for most of the event. Later in the event, a hard charging Casey McClain passed Richards and began his assault on Schank. Yet, by then it was too late. Schank crossed the line with a comfortable lead. Finishing in fourth was Craig Swim and fifth went to Gary Paulson. Both Swim and Paulson had good runs and continue to improve at Chico. In fact, Swim won the second heat race. Brent Steck grabbed the honors in heat one.
