Speedway Host Annual Fireworks and Auto Races on July 4th
CHICO, CA (6-29-16) -Â It's time to go back racing. When the stars and cars of Silver Dollar Speedway hit the track on Monday night, July 4th, it will have been 24 days since the last checkered flag was waived. A series of rain outs and scheduled off weekends have slowed the pace to the 2016 season. Yet, fans and drivers can rejoice as the traditional July 4th racing and gigantic aerial fireworks display will take place this upcoming Monday night. Then, four nights later, the track continues with point race #11 on Friday night, July 8th. Two races within one week are sure to get the heartbeat of grass roots racing beating again.
The Monday night special event will feature four divisions led by the 410 winged sprint cars, Hobby Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods and Street Stocks. This quadruple line up of racing divisions will satisfy the die-hard race fan and excite a family that might not be too keen to dirt track racing. The on track speeds, spills and thrills will electrify the fans while the post-race sky being lit up by fireworks is a Chico tradition. If you are into fun, then this is the place to be on July 4th. Patriotic music will play through the speakers all night and there will be a chance to meet and greet the race car hero's throughout the night.
Kids 11 and under are FREE. I repeat, FREE. Adult general admission is $16.00 with juniors $13.00. Pit gate opens at 3 PM with the front gate opening at 5 PM. Winged sprint car qualifying is scheduled for 5:30 PM and racing is slated to begin around 6 PM.
Tickets for this once a year event can be purchased at all four local Riebes Auto Parts locations, two stores in Chico, one in Paradise and one in Oroville. Tickets can also be purchased at the track the day of the event.
