Silver Dollar Speedway
David Tarter Memorial Weekend at Chico
CHICO, CA (5-30-16) -Â Two more big nights of auto racing are scheduled for this Friday night, June 3rd, and Saturday night, June 4th. On Friday night the AKB presents Family Night at the Races. Also joining us for the night is Heather Cooper Realtor of Keller Williams Realty and Summit Funding Loan Officer Bodie Shephard. Both Heather and Bodie will be on hand to answer any questions about purchasing a house.
Then on Saturday night, Silver Dollar Speedway will host the 4th annual David Tarter Memorial. Once again the race will fall underneath the banner of the traveling King of the West sprint car series. Joining them on Saturday night is a point race for the economy winged sprint cars.
Friday night grandstand admission for adults is $14.00. Juniors and seniors are $12.00. Children are $6.00 and kid's five and under is free. Front gate opens at 6 PM. Pit gate scheduled to open at 4 PM. Racing is slated to start at 6:45 PM.
The front gate will open at 5 PM on Saturday, with adult tickets $20.00, juniors 12-15 will be $15.00 and kids 6-11 are $6.00. All seating is general admission during the night. The Silver Dollar Speedway is located on the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds, a half-mile west of SR 99 on Park Ave in Chico, California. Camping is available for the weekend on the fairgrounds.
On Friday night Dennis Gage has scheduled five divisions to entertain the fans. A surplus of 410 winged sprint cars are expected on Friday night because of the following nights King of the West show. Wingless sprint cars, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks and Super Stocks are also on the ticket.
On Saturday night we pay tribute and remember our fallen friend and racer David Tarter. The Chico resident was well-liked and is dearly missed around the Silver Dollar Speedway. His parents, Howard and Shelly, along with younger brother Michael, have continued to raise support and extra money for this once a year event.
Special raffles will be held over the weekend with great prizes for the fans to win. The family will be raffling off a helmet and two embroidered tie blankets along with a t-shirt and sweatshirt signed by both the traveling World of Outlaws and local sprint car drivers. Rico Abreu also gave the family one of his autographed shirts to raffle off. One of the treasures for this weekends raffle is a barbeque fire pit. The family will also have t-shirts and sweatshirt for sale on Friday and Saturday night at the races.
David was well respected because he was able to live his dream of being a sprint car driver while working on a small budget. He dedicated his life to racing a winged sprint car at Chico and for that he will never be forgotten.
Most of the best teams and sprint car drivers in California will be on hand for both nights including Chico's Jonathan Allard, Paradise's Kyle Hirst, Campbell's Bud Kaeding, Auburn's Andy Forsberg and Roseville's Sean Becker.
