Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster Ramps Back Up This Weekend With Two Monster Events
APTOS, CA (5-23-16) -Â Returning to action for this first time since the series' thrilling opening event back in March, the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster is set for the annual North State Double as the series takes part in the 17th Annual Mel Hall Memorial at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night before the always popular Silver Dollar Fair Race at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Sunday night.
"This is a weekend I always personally look forward to," Silver Dollar Speedway and Marysville Raceway Director of Communications Troy Hennig said. "This weekend has a history of bringing huge car counts to both shows, and each show is special in its own right. Mel Hall was instrumental in getting the Civil War Series off and running, and the Fair Race is always a packed house and a great opportunity to attract new fans to this sport."
With one event in the books so far in 2016, that event was a memorable one that saw Kyle Hirst and Willie Croft duke it out in front of a packed house at the Silver Dollar Speedway back in March. An exciting final five laps saw Croft escape victorious in an absolute thriller of a season opener.
This weekend the door is open for a new winner as Croft is scheduled to race elsewhere, and last years North State Double winners are each hungry more wins in 2016.
The 2015 Mel Hall Memorial saw reigning series champion, Andy Forsberg pick up his first ever event win. Forsberg has been hot in 2016 thus far, and already has one win at the Marysville Raceway this season to date.
During last year's annual Silver Dollar Fair Race, Jonathan Allard defended his home turf nicely as he mounted a charge from deep in the field to become a threat late in the race. Taking advantage of a late restart with three laps to go, Allard would outduel Hirst to pick up the win. Allard has been strong as of late aboard the Tri-C Motorsports No. 3c, and will look to grab his second consecutive win at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
The North State Double should attract a very healthy car count and is sure to be a can't miss weekend of racing in what is forecasted to be a beautiful weekend. Some of the drivers expected to be on hand include, Forsberg, Allard, Shane Golobic, Justin Sanders, Mason Moore, Koen Shaw, Brad Bumgarner, Jeremy Hawes, Geoff Ensign, Bradley Terrell, Andy Gregg, Colby Wiesz, Steven Tiner, Kenny Allen, Cory Eliason, Jarrett Soares, and many more of the regions top drivers.
Sunday night, an admission ticket to the Silver Dollar Fair ($10 for Adults and Seniors and $5 for Children) gets you into the races for FREE. With the discounted rate comes a massive crowd, so we urge you to show up early on this night as the main grandstand is scheduled to open at 6pm.
