Third Annual Tyler Wolf Memorial is Upon Us

CHICO, CA (8-25-15) - This coming Friday night marks the final Point Race of 2015 at Silver Dollar Speedway. Not only is it our final point race of the season but it also marks the 3rd Annual Tyler Wolf Memorial. This is one of those races that mean much more than just another Victory to all of the drivers. Tyler Wolf won the Silver Dollar Speedway Track Championship in 2011 becoming the Youngest Sprint Car Champion in the History of the Speedway. The very next year in 2012 he won the final Points Race of the Season and took home the Six Foot Tall Perpetual Trophy. Just two months later we lost Tyler in a tragic accident at Calistoga Speedway. Since then, the Original Pepsi Trophy has been retired, as it was determined that the family of Tyler Wolf would keep that trophy in his honor. With that, the Speedway decided to make the final Points Race of every season be the Tyler Wolf Memorial, and had a brand new Six Foot Tall Trophy made. That trophy now dubbed the Tyler Wolf Memorial Perpetual Trophy is designed to honor Tyler Wolf and everything he did in his short time with us. The Trophy was originally won by Andy Forsberg, than last season by Rico Abreu. With this race, and this Trophy; Tyler Wolfs legacy lives on.

On that night we will crown four new Track Champions for 2015, and although the 410 Sprint Car driving Championship has already been wrapped up by Sean Becker for the fourth consecutive season, the Owners Championship is still very much alive heading into the final race of the season. The battle is between Dan Mennes #75 team and Clyde Lamars #3C team. Jonathan Allard piloted the Tri-C Machine #3C for most of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway, but the last two weeks, Allard has been back in New Zealand prepping for his racing season there. While Allard was gone Bobby McMahan and Carson Macedo both took a turn behind the wheel of the famed Tri-C Machine. Macedo even wheeled the car to victory last Friday night. With that the Tri-C team takes a 10 point advantage into the final night of competition over Dan Mennes #75 team. Sean Becker will continue to pilot the #75 car this Friday night, and Jonathan Allard is expected to return from New Zealand in time to get back behind the wheel of the #3C car. That being said, two of the best drivers in California will duke it out not just for the race win, but to get their respective car owners a Championship at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

Just when you think the excitement factor is pegged for the Tyler Wolf Memorial, there is even more on the line than just the Owners Championship and the Tyler Wolf Memorial Trophy. Speedway staff have been hard at work over the last 3 months collecting donations towards Lap Money, and many other awards to be given out to the drivers in the Sprint Car Division throughout the event. Lap Money was sold for the entirety of the 25 lap Main Event. That will be broken up as follows. For 20 of the 25 laps we collected $50 dollar Donations. Each lap the $50 will be split up amongst the Top 3 in the running order with 1st getting $25, 2nd getting $15, and 3rd getting $10. The other five laps are being considered Bonus Laps and are worth $100, being split up amongst the Top 3 in the running order with 1st getting $50, 2nd getting $30, and 3rd getting $20. If the winner of the race were to lead all 25 laps he would not only take home the $2000 paycheck for just winning the race, but he would also collect an extra $750 dollars.

The extras dont end there though, as we have collected donations for multiple different awards throughout the night. As of this Press Release we have $450 for a Hard Charger Award; $100 for a Tough Luck Award; $200 for the Fast Time Award; $100 to the 8th Quickest Qualifier; $50 to the First Driver to Qualify outside the Inversion; and $50 dollar Gift Certificates from RCM Design to each of the Heat Race Winners. Also, Kyle Larson Racing has donated $500 to be distributed among the Top Five Finishers in the A-Main Event. With all of those extra incentives up for grabs for the drivers, we hope to draw a strong field of 410 Sprint Car drivers for this race. Staff at the Speedway have spoken with multiple drivers who plan to compete with us this Friday night. Colby Copeland who picked up a win earlier this season plans to compete, Jonathan Allard returns from New Zealand , along with track regulars Sean Becker, Andy Forsberg, and Mason Moore among others.

Be sure to join us as we pay tribute to our fallen Champion, Tyler Wolf this Friday Night, August 28th. Gates will open at 6:00pm With Qualifying set to start at 6:30pm. For directions to the Speedway and Ticket Information, please visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com.
