Two Remaining Championship Nights

CHICO, CA (8-19-15) - The final two Friday night Chuck Patterson Dodge point championship nights are upon us. Four racing divisions will hit the track this Friday night, August 21st. The 410 winged sprint cars will highlight the night and are joined by the popular Bay City Racing Association (BCRA) midgets, hobby stocks and economy sprints. The hobby stocks and economy sprints will crown a track champion this Friday night.

The night is presented by Cherry St. Mini Storage, Riebes Auto Parts and the Wings of Eagles. We will be hosting a meet and great for the families of the Wings of Eagles.

The pit gate for the competitors will open at 4 PM. The front gate for the fans will open at 6 PM. Racing is slated to start at 7 PM. Adult general admission is $13.00, juniors and seniors are $11.00. Children ages 6 11 are $6.00. Kids five and under will be admitted free with a paying adult.

With the absence of Chicos Jonathan Allard on Friday night, Rosevilles Sean Becker will win his fourth sprint car driving championship in a row and fifth overall. However, the car owner championship is tight. Sacramento car owner Clyde Lamar (#3c) leads Fort Jones Dan Menne (#75) by five points. This past Friday, Lamar used 2009 Silver Dollar Speedway track champion Bobby McMahan as his substitute driver for Allard to maintain the car owner lead. Allard is expected to return for the final point race next Friday.

Los Angeles driver Tyler Walker won the previous sprint car main event. He will return this Friday night to try and repeat. Sacramentos Willie Croft is returning back to Friday night racing after spending the past few weeks on the road in the Mid-West. Auburns Andy Forsberg has not one a 410 sprint car race at Chico in over one year. He has two more Friday nights to get it done. Reddings Chase Majdic is the leading David Tarter Rookie of the year award front runner with two races remaining.

Sacramentos Brian Compton should win his second track championship at Silver Dollar Speedway. Compton was the 2103 champion and this year has two wins in route to his second championship. Paradise driver David Pierce has a firm grip on second place. The best championship battle is between third spot Shannon Collins and Brain Cooper. Collins has a one point edge over Cooper.

Economy sprints have been dominated by Chicos Brandon Powell. With his five wins in seven starts, Powell is the class of the field. Ron Wyman is trying to hold off rookie driver Wyatt Brown for second. Wyman holds a five-point edge over Brown. Rounding out the top five in points are Dusty Barton and Doug Emery.

San Rafael driver Frank Guerrini III holds a commanding lead over Rough & Readys Gary Conterno in the BCRA midget point standings for the overall championship. Veteran Floyd Alvis of San Carlos sits in the third spot. Kelseyvilles Brian Gard is a top performer on the dirt tracks and will be one of the favorites to win. This Friday is a great chance for the BCRA midgets to get a race night in before they return for the Thursday night portion of the upcoming Gold Cup Race of Champions in September.
