Allard Ends Skid, Wins #56

CHICO, CA (5-8-15) - The California sprint car scene is used to seeing Chico, CA driver Jonathan Allard winning early and often here on the West Coast. That had not been the case in 2015, until tonight. Allard finally picked up his first win of 2015 during Chuck Patterson Point Race #6 presented by Fastenal/JP's Paint and Auto Body. The win was Allard's 56th of his career which ties him for 2nd All Time at the Silver Dollar Speedway with Tim Kaeding. Other winners during tonights action included Ryan McDaniel in the Ltd. Late Model, Phillip Shelby in the Street Stock, Brian Cooper in Hobby Stocks, and Duane Cleveland in the Dirt Modifieds.

Michael Ing and Andy Forsberg would lead the field down to the Green Flag of the 25 lap 410 Sprint Car Main Event. Forsberg would take the advantage into turn one and would actually open up and early lead on the field. An early couple of Yellow Flags for the Rookie driver Chase Majdic though would allow Jonathan Allard to stay close to Forsberg. Allard made his move on Lap #10 and would get by Forsberg in turn two. From there Allard would check out from the field. The win would not however come easily for Allard as he would encounter trouble with some of the slower cars at the rear of the field. He was nearly collected a couple of times trying to work around the cars at the back of the pack, but patience finally paid off and he was able to secure the victory. After running 2nd the final ten laps of the race Andy Forsberg would slip up the track in turns three and four on the final lap allowing Sean Becker and Tanner Thorson to get by. The top five ended up like this. Jonathan Allard with the win, followed by Sean Becker 2nd, Tanner Thorson 3rd, Andy Forsberg 4th, and Bud Kaeding rounded out the top five. Heat Race victories went to Bud Kaeding and Mason Moore. While Andy Forsberg set Fast Time with a lap of 11.952.

The Ltd. Late Model Main Event was dominated once again by none other than Ryan McDaniel. McDaniel has been the one to beat in this class the last two seasons. He is undefeated so far this year in Main Event action at the Silver Dollar Speedway in the Ltd. Late Model. Matt Micheli moved into the 2nd position late in the race and gave McDaniel everything he had to try and find a way around but was unable to make anything happen. Micheli would have to settle for 2nd. Jeff Olschowka came home in the 3rd position, followed by Duane Cleveland who started last and worked his way nicely through the field. David Newquist would round out the top five. Heat Race Victories were claimed by Matt Micheli and David Newquist respectively.

Phillip Shelby jumped in Steve Hammett's #11 Street Stock tonight and laid it down, as he would take home the victory for the Street Stocks. After tonight's event the Points are all shook up as your Points Leader heading into the event, Phil Marino blew the motor in Hot Laps, and 2nd in points Chris Warner didnt show up for tonights event. Unofficially after tonights race Eddie Hammett, who ended the first points race upside down on the front straightaway will be the new Points Leader after finishing 2nd tonight to Shelby. Brent Lawrence would finish a solid third after starting on the Pole, with Clinton Earl and Gary Newman rounding out the top five positions. Heat Race Victories were claimed by Phillip Shelby and Eddie Hammett.

The IMCA Dirt Modified Main Event was action packed as always. We saw great racing for the lead between Duane Cleveland and Ryan McDaniel the whole race. Cleveland though would come out on top for the second time this season. Scary moment during the race though as Chris Lewis would flip his car in turn one violently. The car rolled three times in the air before landing on all fours. Lewis was able to get out of the car on his own and walk off the track. Ryan McDaniel continues a strong start to the season with his 2nd place finish. Mark Abouzeid had a solid run finishing 3rd. While Raymond Lindeman and Ray Trimble rounded out the top five. Heat Race Wins went to Ryan McDaniel and Duane Cleveland.

The Hobby Stocks in 2015 have been dominated by one family. That is the Cooper Family in their nearly identical cars, all sponsored by Automaxx and CSD Engines. Brian Cooper is now undefeated through 3 races this season. He has not lost a Heat Race or Main Event. Tonight however Brian's brother Todd gave him a run for his money. Todd Cooper had the race all but won, when he made a minor mistake in lapped traffic that allowed brother Brian to get back by. Todd Cooper would have to settle for the 2nd spot, while Brian Compton finished 3rd, with David Pierce and David Cooper rounding out the top five positions. Brian Cooper and Brian Compton each picked up Heat Race Victories.
