Forsberg Shines in Silver Cup Opener
CHICO, CA (3-6-15) -Â Auburn, CA driver Andy Forsberg led all 25 laps of the 360 Winged Sprint Car Main Event tonight en route to his 41st Career win at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Behind the wheel of the Cody Gainey owned PT Shocks #7C Forsberg would start from the Pole Position and not look back. Other winners during Opening Night of the Silver Cup included Troy Foulger in the IMCA Dirt Modifieds and Shane Myhre in the Wingless Sprints.
Andy Forsberg led the 20 car field down to the Green Flag from the pole position and wouldnt look back. Andy had to hold off a hard charge by Roseville, CA driver Sean Becker in the closing laps of the race. Becker would have to settle for the second place position as he just couldnt find a way around Forsberg. Third place tonight went to the 2014 Civil War Sprint Car Champion, Shane Golobic. Golobic had a solid night aboard the Keith Day Trucking #22K. Craig Stidham made the long trek up to race Chico from Fresno, CA and had a great night finishing fourth in tonights main event. Seth Bergman would round out the top five. Seth made the trip to Silver Dollar after the event he was supposed to compete in this weekend in Mississippi was rained out. Mason Moore won the B-Main as he took the lead coming to take the white flag. Heat race victories went to Seth Bergman, Willie Croft, Mike Monohan, and Justin Sanders. Willie Croft was Fastest in Qualifying with a lap time of 11.889.
The Dirt Modified Main Event was marred by cautions early on in the race, but once they got to rolling around the speedway for a few laps the leaders put on a great show. Troy Foulger and Duane Cleveland battled door to door for the final eight laps of the race with Foulger barely coming out ahead of Cleveland who would finish second. Ryan McDaniel put on a great charge through the field to pick up a solid third place finish. Jeff Olschowka and James Hite each won their respective B-Mains, while Heat Race wins were picked up by Ryan McDaniel, Albert Gill, Kevin Pendergrass, and Duane Cleveland.
Shane Myhre used a lot of patience to pick up his first career victory at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Myhre stalked early race leader Angelique Bell, until Bell had a slight bobble in turn one and Myhre would capitalize. Dwarf car Ace turned Wingless Sprint car standout Shawn Jones came home in the second position. While Brian Grier would round out the podium in the third position. Heat Race Victories went to Gary Nelson Jr, and Brian Grier.
