Buy Advance July 4th Tickets at Casino 99 and Riebes Auto Parts
CHICO, CA (6-30-13) -Â A Chico family tradition continues this Thursday night, Fourth of July, with auto racing at the Silver Dollar Speedway followed by Butte counties only Fireworks show. The Silver Dollar Speedway is located at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. While tickets can be purchased the day of the event, it is recommended to buy tickets in advance at either the new Casino 99, located at the corner of East 20th and Park Ave, or the four local Riebes Auto Parts. There are two Chico Riebes locations with the first one near the speedway at 175 E. 20th Street. The other Chico store is located at 2432 Cohasset Rd. Paradise and Oroville Riebes Auto Parts stores will also offer the chance to buy the fourth of July tickets in advance.
Front grandstand gate will open at 5 PM on Thursday July 4th. The dirt track auto racing portion of the show is set to begin at 6:00 PM. Four racing divisions will be in attendance led by the powerful 410 winged sprint cars, the ultra-competitive Joe Hut Magnetos Wingless Sprint Shootout Series, Hobby Stocks and Street Stocks. Promoter Dennis Gage has stepped up the post-race show by purchasing the largest Fireworks package in the history of the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. The gigantic aerial fireworks show will begin about 10 to 15 minutes following the final main event race of the night.
The Silver Dollar Speedway is honored to host Butte County District 2 Supervisor Larry Wahl and U.S. Representative for California's 1st congressional district Doug LaMalfa during the July 4th event. Both, as of this release, will share in reading The Declaration of Independence to the fans in attendance. Trent Smith is set to give his emotional rendition of the National Anthem. The speedway will honor all veterans in attendance with a special moment before the National Anthem and patriotic music will be played all night in between the racing events. Finally, the speedway will fly the 1777 Bennington Flag provided by super fan Ward Habriel.
Tonight's racing format will include qualifying for the winged and non-wing sprint cars. All divisions will run heat races followed by main events. Strong local contingents of winged sprint car drivers are expected led by Michael Tarter, Brad Bumgarner, Jason York, Craig Swim and Kevin Sharrah. Corning's Bud Walberg, Anderson's Keith Bloom and Orland's BJ Martin will add some surrounding flavor to the show. The Joe Hunt Series attracts drivers from all over Northern California including Santa Rosa's Terry Schank Jr., Rio Linda's Scott Hall and Sebastopol's Geoff Ensign. Local hotrods Rowdy McClenon, Taylor Nelson and Dustin Thompson will look to win the non-wing sprint car race. Orland's Jake Vantol and Chico's Kevin Lesch have been the big winners this season during the street stock portion of racing. Sacramento's Brian Compton leads the Hobby Stocks point battle. He will be joined by David Pierce and Kyle Allen among others.
