Civil War Series continued busy month of June at Chico's Silver Dollar this Friday

CHICO, CA (6-17-13) - The premier racing series for 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars is headed back to the north state later this week to continue its busy month of June with the second Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Series event of the year at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico this Friday night. This event is the 7th round of competition for the winged warriors and the second of three visits to the quarter-mile track on the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds.

So far this season in six events, the Civil War Sprint Car series has seen six different faces in victory lane. That statistic alone shows the diversity and the talent that forms the roster of this competitive series.

The Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series is a unique championship campaign managed by Handy Racing Promotions in conjunction with those tracks participating in the series. Each of the tracks that host this competitive tour during the season agree that their 360 sprint car division will "go dark" on the dates in which the series participates at one of the tracks on the tour. The format produces impressive car counts for each race that pays a minimum of $2000 to the winner.

As the 2013 series goes past its halfway point, a new point leader has emerged following last weeks event at King's Speedway in Hanford. Defending seven time champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn has slipped ahead of longtime series point leader Justin Sanders of Prunedale by just four points.

Both of the top drivers are still seeking their first feature wins of the season in the traveling series. For Forsberg, Silver Dollar Speedway is his home on every Friday night so this week could be the turning point for his F&F Racing Team to pick up their first win. Sanders too always performs well on the Silver Dollar clay and will surely be in pursuit in an effort to redeem his series point lead.

Former two time champion Sean Becker of Roseville is third in the standings, only six points out of the lead. Benicia's Billy Aton is fourth, 24-points out. Colby Wiesz of Colfax is fifth overall, 30-points behind the leader. Mason Moore , Herman Klein, Billy Butler, Steve Tiner and Shane Golobic round out the top ten.

The Civil War Sprint Cars will be accompanied by wingless sprint cars Friday night that will be competing in the 2012 Silver Dollar Speedway weekly championship. The pit gate opens at 3 p.m. on Friday. Grandstands open at 6:00 with qualifying starting at 6:30 followed by racing at 7.

Adult tickets are $16. Juniors are #13.00 and Children are $6. For additional information visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com or www.civilwarsprints.com.
