SACRAMENTO, CA (3-5-13) - After a long off season the stars of the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Shootout Series are ready to get back into the saddle. The first official point race of 2013 takes place this Saturday, March 9, at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The race coincides with the Silver Cup Race of Champions at Chico. The wingless cars will share the spotlight with the dirt modifieds and winged 360 sprints.

Once again the series will pay a $1,000 to win each main event with $130.00 to start the main. There will be a $3,000 point fund to the top 10 finishers in the points at the end of the season. In addition, Joe Hunt Magnetos will pay an additional $600.00 in bonuses to the top three running Joe Hunt Magnetos product.

Silver Dollar Speedway kicks off the first of nine scheduled point shows. Following the Chico race the series will hit back to back events at the Petaluma Speedway on May 4th and June 1st. On June 22nd the series makes its only trip of the year to Placerville Speedway. For the first time, the series will highlight the racing at Silver Dollar Speedway on July 4th. Two weeks later the series will make its first ever trip to Orland Speedway on July 20th. Final three shows of the year include August 10th at Petaluma, September 4th and conclude September 21st at Petaluma Speedway. All of the events at Petaluma will coincide with the Pit Stop USA Spec Sprint Series.

Once again leading the charge of the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Series is Terry Schank Jr. He is the defending champion of the series and has been the most recognizable face and name of the wingless series. Chasing Schank this year will be Rio Linda's Scott Hall. Hall is fresh of the Sherm Toller Memorial wingless main event win at Marysville Raceway Park on March 2. Hall is also the defending champion of the Silver Cup race in Chico. Other drivers set for the opening night race at Chico include Roseville's Angelique Bell, Chico's Taylor Nelson and Orland's Ron LaPlant.
