Live Oak's Matt Micheli earned his first win of 2012 at the speedway by winning the 20 lap limited late model main event. Joining Micheli on the front straight in victory lane after the races were Chico's Bill Patterson and Ryan Winter.
Randy McDaniel led the first main event laps of the limited late models. McDaniel, fresh off his win last week, was back in a familiar place up front and leading. However, this weekend was different. Matt Micheli was ready to battle McDaniel and eventually took the lead on lap three. It was all Micheli from here on out. McDaniel did close in on a few separate times but was never able to close in and challenge Micheli for the win. Micheli kept a smooth, solid racing line that eventually got him the win. "I had fun here tonight even the track was a little rough," said Micheli. Charlie Marrs drove a good race to finish third. Brad Magenheimer rounded out the top four.
The street stock main event was unusually longer tonight because of numerous cautions and even a red flag due to an engine fire on Brian Powell's car. Yet, when the green flag laps were recorded, the action was hot and heavy on the track.
Chico's Mike Slightom led the first two laps of the street stock main event. On lap three Shawn Smith became the new leader. Smith would go on to lead the next eight laps until he was passed by Richard Workman. Patterson kept getting closer to the front. On lap 13 he passed Workmen for the lead. Patterson then rocketed out front and cruised to the popular win. "This Gateminder team is awesome," said Patterson in victory lane. He was joined by his family and friends. Smith came back to finish in the second spot. Fritz Zanker was the hard charger. He started 10th and finished third. Slightom hung around to finish in the fourth spot.
Ryan Winter dominated the Dwarf Car main event. Winter led all 20-laps to secure the popular win. Brian Quilty held the second spot down for the entire race. Quilty did hold off challengers like Shawn Jones, who had a mechanical failure and did not finish, and Scott Dahlgren along with Jeremy Blackshere. Doug Martin rounded out the top five in the main event.
