Towns passed early leader Mark Wauge about the half way point of the race and was never challenged from that point on. Tonight's track was a challenge for the drivers as a relentless wind pounded the dirt surface all night. Even with the tricky conditions the 20 dirt modified drives that started the main event should all be commended for completing all 25-laps without one caution. The non-stop action provided a great main event to conclude the nights racing.
Mark Wauge started on the pole position and led the first 12 laps of the race. Towns, who started inside row two, was able to chase down Wauge as the laps clicked off. On lap 12 Towns made his move and took the lead from Wauge. Once Towns took the lead he was untouchable and the battle was for second on back. Last nights winner, Kellen Chadwick, was able to make some impressive moves on the tricky track. Along with Ryan McDaniel, Richard Papenhausen and Nick DeCarlo the rest of the field had good racing throughout the quarter-mile dirt track. It was great to see these top stars in the dirt modified section of California race so close and lap after lap being able to pass each other cleanly.
Towns was able to cruise around the track the final five laps and win the Silver Cup Championship. Wauge was able to hold off a charging Chadwick at the finish line. Papenhausen beat DeCarlo to the line while McDaniel finished in the sixth spot.
Jeff Olschowka won the 12-lap B main event. Ryan McDaniel, Wade Kennemore and Shawn Natenstedt each won their eight lap heat races.
A total of 28 dirt modifieds competed during the night. Ryan McDaniel turned the quickest lap in group qualifying at a 16.540.
