Silver Dollar Speedway Unveils 2012 Racing Schedule

CHICO, CA (1-6-12) - It is time to start gearing up for the 2012 racing season at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. The upper management of the speedway has worked hard to give the racers, fans and community a comprehensive seven month schedule starting in March and concluding at the end of September. "It has been encouraging to work side by side with all the promoters this year and we have seemed to clear hurdles of scheduling races on top of each other, like in years past," said promoter Dennis Gage. "Chico will continue to be a prominent dirt track and the schedule we have formed will be very satisfying to our fans and race teams."

The season will consist of 36 individual nights of racing with a wide array of divisions. The first scheduled weekend of racing will feature the Silver Cup Race of Champions. Traditionally, this race is held later in the month of March. However, with the World of Outlaws moving their Mini Gold Cup date to March 23rd and 24th, it made scheduling sense to move the Silver Cup into an earlier date. The Silver Cup kicks things off on March 9th and 10th.

The World of Outlaws return to Silver Dollar Speedway for five nights in 2012. The 59th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions will take place from September 5th to 8th. Currently four night grandstand reserved tickets are on sale by calling the track office at 530-350-7275. World of Outlaw 410 sprint cars will be racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night of Gold Cup this year. The Mini Gold Cup is set to take place on March 23rd and 24th.

United States Auto Club (USAC) midgets will compete at our track with the World of Outlaws during the Mini Gold Cup weekend. The USAC Western Classic Racing Sprint Car Series will be headlining at the speedway on August 3rd and September 5th.

For the first time in the history of the speedway, the traveling National ASCS 360 Sprint Car Series will attack the famed quarter-mile clay oval speedway on July 27th. The nights racing action will be televised by NBC television owned VERUS channel.

The traveling King of the West 410 sprint car series has been scheduled for three nights. The California Sprint Car Civil War Series will also make three visits to the track in 2012. The Joe Hunt Magnetos wingless spec sprints and Dwarf Cars divisions will return for a handful of races this season.

The Friday Night point Championship season will begin on April 6th and run throughout the summer months and come to a conclusion on August 24th. A diverse and talented group of divisions will get the chance to showcase their driving skills. The 410 winged sprints will once again be the main stay of the speedway. The Street Stocks, Dirt Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Mini Stocks, Wingless Sprints and Hobby Stocks will rotate on a weekly basis according to the schedule. Also as an added bonus, some special winged 360 sprint car non-point shows will give teams the opportunities to race on Friday nights at Chico.

March 3rd and 31st will offer teams a chance to test and tune with Open Play Dates at the track. Monster Trucks return on April 13th. The Silver Dollar Fair will take place at the end of May. This year auto racing trumps the activities in the main grandstand. May 25th will feature the first ever Arena/Motocross race. The popular Enduro's are set to be the main attraction on May 26th. The Civil War Sprints are slated for May 27th. Finally, on May 28, the track will host a destruction derby. The Enduro's will get another shot at the track on August 4th.

The season will conclude with the annual Fall Nationals featuring 360 winged sprints and wingless sprints. More information can be obtained by calling the track office at (530) 350-7275.
