Double Funk Crunch Concert to "energize" Gold Cup crowds on the pavilion stage following tonight's races

CHICO, CA (9-9-10) - The Gold Cup Race of Champions is known for the many events that take place before and after the races in the well populated "trailer-hood" that packs the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Tonight it all begins as Kronik Energy presents the electrifying Double Funk Crunch live in the Silver Dollar Pavilion following tonight's racing.

This event is brand new to the Gold Cup Race of Champions and will feature one of the region's most recognized bands along with discount tacos, beer and video highlights in a family friendly-happy hour environment. Admission is free into the Silver Dollar Pavilion for the fun filled event that no race fan, driver, crew member or person on the street should miss.

Double Funk Crunch is a versatile nine piece party band that has dazzled audiences for over a decade with non-stop dance hits, choreography, audience interaction and boundless energy. Originally established as a 70's disco band in the San Francisco Bay Area, DFC burst onto the scene in 1997 as one of the most dynamic and popular bands of their kind.

Double Funk Crunch's reputation and demand have skyrocketed over the years. They have performed in all of the major venues in Northern California as well as performances across the country and around the world. A few of their past clients include such entities as Yahoo, Google, Cisco Systems, Cach Creek Casino, the San Francisco Giants, the Oakland A's and President Barack Obama. Now. After tonight, add the famous Gold Cup Race of Champions to the long list of Double Funk Crunch's venues.

In addition to the live music by one of the regions' top bands and discount tacos, beer and soda, tonight's event will also bring the Gold Cup Race of Champions to the big screen . Duel giant big screens have been installed in the pavilion and will feature highlights of Gold Cup's of the past. The event is being presented by Handy Racing Promotions with the much welcomed sponsorship of Kronik Energy.

Kronik Energy is no stranger to sprint car racing in Arizona and California. John Gaston has raced in a number of events in 2010 at both Silver Dollar Speedway and Placerville Speedway aboard the Kronik Energy #22 sprint car. They also field the #2 Kronik Energy sprint car of Ben Gregg who competes in various World of Outlaw's events. Both drivers will be in competition in tonight's Gold Cup Race of Champions as their exciting company becomes involved with the after hours events of the "biggest little sprint car race in the world."

In addition to the Double Funk Crunch concert tonight, Kronik Energy will be on hand throughout the day and evening at Silver Dollar Speedway with several special giveaways throughout the night. The company's elaborate four wheel drive show truck will also shoot t-shirts into the grandstands throughout the evening.
