The Gold Cup is coming to Silver Dollar Speedway

CHICO, CA (8-30-10) -Â Simply put, it's "The Biggest Little Sprint Car Race in the World" and it's happening in just a matter of days at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California.
It all begins on Wednesday, September 8 with three different divisions taking to the Silver Dollar Speedway quarter mile. The opening night of racing features 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars in the annual "Civil War Gold Cup Invitational." This is the crown jewel of California's premier traveling series for winged 360 sprint cars, the Civil War Sprint Car Series. But the action doesn't stop with this traditional opener next week. The winged sprint cars will be joined in 2010 by two of California's most exciting open wheel classes for an incredible kick off to the week of racing.
The wingless sprint cars of the Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Shootout will share the spotlight along with the mighty midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association. This will mark the first time these three divisions have come together in one open wheel extravaganza that is just the beginning of a huge week of racing in California.
The Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Car Shootout just recently concluded after 11 events at three different California race tracks. The Wednesday night event will pay $1000 to the winner of invitational race that is open to the top 30 drivers in the Wingless Shootout Series point standings.
Adding to the Wednesday night excitement will be the mighty midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association as they present the BCRA Western Midget Spectacular on the Wednesday night opener. Look for all of the top stars of the BCRA as they will likely be joined by a select number of drivers that will be competing later in the week. The mighty midgets are sure to bring a great deal of excitement to the 2010 Gold Cup Race of Champions.
The Wednesday night event is general admission with no reserved seating in 2010 and is just a high octane warm up to the following days to come. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday the nation's best drivers come together with the best of California as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Tour concludes its annual Gold Rush Tour on the banks of Silver Dollar Speedway.
On Thursday night of the 2010 Gold Cup, the World of Outlaws will begin three incredible night's of racing. The Thursday night venue includes the first of two preliminary nights of competition everyone begins their journey towards Saturday's finale. Don't miss the best drivers in the nation in this event. Friday night will host the second preliminary night of competition. This year all competitors race on all three nights of the Gold Cup. The Thursday and Friday programs will pay $8000 to win and Saturday will be a series of feature events all leading up to the big $50,000 to win Gold Cup Race of Champions.
Three day tickets for the upcoming Gold Cup Race of Champions are currently on sale at the track business office for $130 per person. Beginning on Monday, August 2 single day tickets will go on sale and can be obtained by calling (916) 969-7484 after 9 a.m. on Monday, August 2.
As it has in the past, the Gold Cup Race of Champions will utilize an accumulative point system to determine the line ups for Saturday's program that will climax with the 40-lap $50,000 to win Gold Cup Race of Champions feature event. Silver Dollar Speedway is the one and only track in California to host the World of Outlaws in the fall of 2010 and the event will conclude with the popular "Gold Rush Tour" for the traveling series and it treks down from the Pacific Northwest.
Throughout the week on the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds a variety of entertainment venues and activities will be taking place beginning on Thursday night as Kronik Energy Drink presents the electrifying band known as "Double Funk Crunch" in the Silver Dollar Pavilion after the races. This event will be free and will feature discount tacos, beer and beverages as well as video footage on the big screen of Gold Cup's most fantastic moments during the affair that combines family fun with a happy hour environment.
On Friday night the Hunt Magnetos Miss Gold Cup Bikini Contest and Chili Feed returns. Entries are now available for this event that will pay $1000 to the winner. This year, Chico's flammable rock and roll band "Hot Flash!" will perform during the Chili Feed and following the Miss Gold Cup Bikini Contest. For just $7 admission, race fans can enjoy all you can eat chili, salad and cornbread. Discount beer and soda will be on tap. The event culminates with the crowning of Miss Gold Cup 2010 who will pick up $1000 for her efforts.
