CHICO, CA (5-25-10) - This weekend at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds the annual Silver Dollar Fair takes over the fairgrounds and surrounding areas. The Chico Fair brings smiles to the faces of children and adults alike. With many treats, shows and activities there is plenty do at this years fair. However, on Saturday and Sunday night, auto racing is the highlight in the main grandstand area and this is what puts a smile on the faces of race fans.

Feather Falls Casino / Riebes Auto Parts point championship race #7 is scheduled for Saturday night, May 29. Front grandstand gate will open at 5 pm with racing to begin at 6 pm. Adults are $7, Children 6-12 are $3 and under six are free. Seniors are $5.00 to enter the fair. The Wingless Sprints, Street Stocks and the Pacific Sprint winged 360 division are all on tap. Then on Sunday night, May 30, the California Sprint Car Civil War Series invades the quarter-mile clay oval speedway.

Traditionally, a large turnout of winged 360 sprints give the fair fans big bang for the buck as grandstand seating is free with the paid admission into the Silver Dollar Fair. Saturday nights race is also free once a ticket has been purchased for the fair. On Monday afternoon a new tradition like no other begins. The first Destruction Derby will take place during the afternoon inside the quarter-mile clay oval speedway.

Saturday night will mark the third appearance of the year by the street stock division. Defending champion Heather Bartlett leads the current point standings. Bartlett leads Scott Rogers by nine points. Rogers in the 2008 track champion. Bartlett has two top five main event finishes and won the most recent street stock main event at the speedway. Only two points separate Rogers and the next two drivers in line. Richard Workman currently holds down the third spot while Mike Slightom sits in fourth and is just one point behind Workman. Jake Vantol sits four points behind Slightom in the fifth spot. The only other winner this year is Phil Marino. The two-time track champion won the opening night race in the street stock division.

Terry Schank Jr. won the lone point race for the wingless division this season. With the win, Schank Jr. is the current point leader of the division. Schank Jr. leads Brett Youngman by just one point. James Sweeney, Johnny Reeves and defending track champion Jimmy Pettit are all tied for the third spot. It will be exciting to see the wingless sprints on a Saturday night at Chico. Usually the series is ran on Friday nights. Yet, with the fair schedule the division will get a rare Saturday night start which will hopefully allow some out of town cars to participate.

The 360 winged Pacific Sprint Cars will offer a special night of racing. Two Andy's are scheduled to appear. Auburn's Andy Forsberg and Placerville's Andy Gregg. Joining the Andy's should be Colfax driver Colby Wiesz, driving the Main Motorsports #35a, Oroville's Sean Becker and Chico's Brett Miller.

Other locals drivers scheduled to appear are Mason Moore, Kenny Allen and Stephen Allard. Making his driving debut at Chico is John Gaston of Phoenix Arizona. Gaston has been traveling throughout California in recent weeks with his Kronik Energy sprint car team. All drivers racing in the Saturday night program should return for the Civil War Spectacular on Sunday.
