CHICO, CA (3-27-10) - Springfield, Missouri driver Eric Turner had never seen the track at Silver Dollar Speedway before this weekend. On his second night of racing at the famed quarter-mile, Turner pulled into victory lane and won the Saturday night final of the Silver Cup Race of Champions. Turner was driving a car owned by Duane Cleveland and he thrilled the crowd with a last lap pass to retake the lead away from Alex Stanford. "This is a fun little joint to race at," said Turner in victory lane. "I am looking forward to coming back out here again and hopefully try to repeat this win next year." It was a good weekend for Cleveland as he finished in the third spot. A total of 31 dirt modifieds returned for the final night. The final night of racing was presented by Feather Falls Casino and Riebe's Auto Parts.Daniel Dozier Jr. and Turner lined up on the front row and the two swapped the lead a few times. On lap two Jeremy Newberry was up ended and flipped in turn one. He was out of the car and uninjured but done for the night. Dozier Jr. continued in the lead and he was pressured by Turner. On the move was Alex Stanford. Stanford started seventh and moved into the third spot about half way through the race. Turner took the lead on lap 11 and the next time by Dozier Jr. spun around. He restarted last and worked his way back to a tenth place finish.

Lap 13 saw Stanford move into the second spot. Adding to the good racing was Cleveland who was making it a three car race for the lead. After lap 20 the race turned into an epic finish. On lap 21 Stanford passed Turner for the lead. Stanford was running the bottom and Turner would start low and try to drift up through the turns. Stanford took the white flag as the leader. Going into turn one Stanford missed the bottom just a bit and slid up the track. Turner got a great run and was able to sling shot by Stanford for the lead. Turner dove back to the bottom and blocked Stanford. It was a great move that proved to be the winning decision. Turner came out of turn four and won the race. Stanford was second and Cleveland third. Kellen Chadwick did is always fast and did a great job all night. Chadwick started eighth and finished fourth. Ryan McDaniel rebounded from an early problem that sent him into the pit area and back out onto the track at the rear of the field. McDaniel raced his way back to a fifth place finish.

Curtis Towns started fourth and went on to win the 10-lap dirt modified B main event. Ryan McDaniel picked up the win in heat one. Duane Cleveland led all eight laps to win heat two. Kellen Chadwick was impressive in heat three. He started fifth and won the race. Turner did an an awesome job in heat four. He started sixth and won the race with a late lap pass.

The dirt modifieds really put on a great show this weekend at the speedway. It was nice to see so many cars in the pit area. The racing on the speedway was very competitive and this weekend was a chance for fans to enjoy the dirt modified's at their finest.
