CHICO, CA (3-27-10) - Taylor Simas' drought it over. The Orland driver did not visit victory lane at Silver Dollar Speedway the entire 2009 season. It was nice to see the tall, curly haired gigolo standing on the front stretch in victory lane. Simas passed Scott Hall on lap four and went on to lead the final 16 laps to win the biggest race of his career. "I knew Wallace war there and I just kept trying to hit my marks and not make a mistake," said the starting power forward on the Shockers basketball team. "I have to thank my family and my crew for sticking with me and getting us back to victory lane. A big thanks to Fudd for his muscles and strength to get out the broken drive line from the night before." A total of 20 cars returned for the final night of Feather Falls Casino and Riebe's Auto Parts Silver Cup Fall Nationals.Hall led the field to the green flag. Last year's champion Arvo Backholm brought out the first yellow on lap six. Hall led the first four laps until Simas was able to make the pass. Josh Vieira followed into the second spot but he was soon passed by Billy Wallace. Adding to the mix was hard charging Terry Schank Jr. Schank moved into third on lap ten. For the final ten laps the three battled for the top spot. Simas drove a smart race and hugged the bottom of the speedway. The only shot Wallace had was figuring out the tricky top lane. Wallace would close in on Simas and at times be even as the two raced down the straightaway but going into the turns Simas had the advantage. Wallace gave it all he could but was never quite able to completely pass Simas. Simas got the popular win. Schank Jr. finished third. Cody Myers finished fourth and last nights winner Kody Smith rounded out the top five.

Billy Wallace won the first heat race. Kody Smith dominated the second heat. Third heat went to Terry Schank Jr. Next week the first round of the Joe Hunt Magneto's Wingless Spec Sprint Series kicks off at Chico on April 2. A full field of cars are expected to take part in this inaugural 12 race series.
