CHICO, CA (7-27-09) -Â Dirt modified driver Mark Abouzeid will continue his charge towards perfection this Friday night, July 31, at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Abouzeid is having a perfect season winning all five of the main events ran this year during the Feather Falls Casino point championship series. "It's all so humbling," said Abouzeid who owns the local Chico Volkswagen dealership. "I've had customers come up to me and wish me luck. I mean these are some of the same people who didn't now I even raced at the speedway until all of this attention has been brought our way because of the streak we are on." Joining the dirt modifieds are the 410 winged sprints and dwarf cars.
Friday night's racing is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area.
Extra money will be on the line in the dirt modified main event courtesy of The Danielsen Co. Food Service Specialist. The bonus money will be spread throughout the field during the main event for the modified division. The Danielsen Co. serves local restaurants, school districts, the Silver Dollar Speedway and has a cash and carry store. The Danielsen Co. has always played a big part in helping the racetrack whether it was delivering food or sponsoring race races. The name has been proudly displayed for the last few years on the side of Eli Zuckers #8e dirt modified. Zucker is the warehouse manager and the grandson of owner Jim Danielsen. With the extra money it will be a wonder if any of the out of town drivers will want to end Abouzeid's streak.
Cherry St. Mini Storage and Dan's Roofing will take care of the sprint car portion of the sponsor money. With their help the winner of the 25-lap main event will win $2,000. Both companies are sponsors of Sean Becker's #51. Bobby McMahan heads into this point race as the leader. He holds a 24-point lead over Mark Hall. Andy Forsberg is in third, however, motor issues might sideline the defending champion. That should open the door for Jonathan Allard and Colby Copeland to move higher into the point standings. Saturday night winner Kyle Hirst has committed to return to Chico and race this Friday night.
The dwarf cars are always entertaining and put on a wonderful show. Usually this traveling group of Outlaws will bring close to or above 20 racecars. All of their info is located at www.dwarfworld.com
