CHICO, CA (7-17-09) -Â Chico's Jonathan Allard returned to a familiar spot Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, victory lane. Allard led all 25-laps in wining his fourth main event of the year during the Friday night Feather Falls Casino point championship series. Allard will receive a handsome $2,000 for his win and also picked up a gallon of DIRT SOLUTION, an alternative to baby oil in keeping cars cleaner on the dirt tracks. "It's never easy to win a sprint car race," said Allard. "I just want to thank the fans for coming out and sitting in this 100 degree plus heat we have in Chico right now." Terry Schank Jr. led all 20-laps to win the wingless main event. It was his third win of the year. On hand tonight supporting the wingless division was Skyway Tools; a locally owned business located 2499 Bruce Rd. Phil "the thrill" Marino picked up his fifth win of the year in the street stock division at the ASA Sanctioned track.Care Free Pools sponsored the night of racing and their driver Brett Miller almost missed the race. Miller was battling a fire just south of Quincy and was barely able to get back in time to race the family owned 1x.. It turned out to be a tough night for him as he ended up clipping the wall early in the event and finished 11^th . Allard started in the pole position and from the start it was clear he was the fastest driver on the track. Allard quickly built up a sizeable lead over Mark Hall. Andy Forsberg soon moved around Hall and was now in second. Jeff Griffin brought the race to a halt when he flipped off of turn two. The car was damaged but he walked off under his own power. The race continued until lap 12 when Kyle Harris flipped in turn two. He was also uninjured but done for the night. Up front Forsberg had nothing for Allard. It was all about the Zero Hero's tonight and Allard had nearly a two second lead when he crossed underneath the checkered flag. Forsberg ran second and was followed to the stripe by Hall. Bobby McMahan finished fourth. Robbie Whitchurch rounded out the top five.
Brad Bumgarner and Bobby McMahan each won heat races. Allard started the night off by turning the quickest lap at 11.751.
Phil Marino led all 20-laps to win the street stock main event. His nearest competitor was point leader Heather Bartlett. Marino was able to stretch his lead out to nearly three seconds at the finish line. Joe Longmire was third. Mike Slightom finished in the fourth spot. Rounding out the top five was Mike Slightom. Marino was so dominate that he lapped up to the third place car. Heather Bartlett won the only heat race for the division.
Terry Schank Jr. is one of the fastest non-wing spec drivers in California. He proved his driving ability tonight by first holding off Jimmy Pettit and then Billy Wallace. Wallace made a charge during the final few laps to try and close in on Schank but he was not able to get into a position for the pass. Wallace was coming off last weeks main event win. Pettit finished third. Jay Youngman came home in the fourth spot while Chico's Mitch Miller finished fifth. Youngman won the special Skyway Tools Dash and he received first pick of the great prizes offered by Skyway Tools. Pettit and Wallace each won the two heat races.
