Friday Night Heats Up With Three Divisions at Chico
CHICO, CA (7-7-09) -Â The ASA Sanctioned Silver Dollar Speedway will host point race #13 this Friday, July 10. Three divisions will host the Feather Falls Casino sponsored speedway. The 410 winged sprint, dirt modifieds and wingless sprints are set to entertain fans with close racing. Withrow's Motorsports and JP's Paint and Auto Body are the marketing partner for the night. Both locally owned businesses are amazing friends of the speedway and huge supporters of dirt track racing.
Friday night's racing is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area.
Sprint car point leader Jonathan Allard's racing schedule will not allow him to make the Friday night race at Chico. The King of California schedule has the series traveling to Santa Maria on Saturday and it's too much for his crew to make the trip from Oakhurst and then turn around that same night and try to get back to Santa Maria on Saturday night. This will open up a chance for Bobby McMahan to regain the point lead. He holds a nice lead of 19-points over third place Mark Hall. Sitting one-point behind Hall is Colby Copeland. To put an interesting spin on things, McMahan and Hall have a combined 51 years of open wheel racing experience. Copeland is halfway through his second season and still in high school. Defending track champion Andy Forsberg, still acts as if he is in high school, but the recently turned 33-year old is in the fifth spot. Loomis driver Kyle Hirst is making the trip up to Chico for this Friday night.
The Mark Abouzeid saga continues in the dirt modified division. Abouzeid is four-for-four when it comes to winning main events in this division. It's hard to imagine him keeping this streak alive all year. Can he continue or will someone finally break the streak.
Jimmy Pettit looks to rebound from a fifth place finish last week. His nearest challenger for the point title is now only 14-points behind. Brandon Davis won his first main of the year and with the win he was able to shrink Pettit's lead. Terry Schank Jr. is always a big threat to win on any given night. Billy Wallace and Jay Youngman are also expected this Friday night. Only three points separate second through fourth in the chase for the title.
Withrow's Motorsports is located at 2501 S. Whitman Place in Chico. They are Chico's number one destination for off road recreational vehicles and watercrafts. They will be throwing cool items into the main grandstand crowd. JP's Paint and Body Works is located at 1840 Park Ave in Chico. JP has become a celebrity figure in recent years at the speedway. His Knoxville Bound trip and Gold Cup barbeque have become great destinations for race fans. JP is giving away many cool items this Friday night at the Speedway.
