Racing and Fireworks This Weekend at Chico

CHICO, CA (6-29-09) -Â The tradition of racing and fireworks will continue this weekend at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. On Friday night, July 3, Feather Falls Casino point championship racing continues with 410 sprints, wingless sprints and street stocks set to battle around the quarter-mile clay oval speedway. Chico Mobile AC & Radiator will sponsor the night. Then on Saturday night, July 4, come help us celebrate America's Independence Day with the King of California Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series and the Dwarf cars racing around the speedway. A spectacular fire-works show will immediately follow the final checkered flag of the night. Back to back nights of racing action at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Fun for the whole family on July 4th with kids under the age of 11 admitted free into the grandstand.
Friday night's race number 12 at the ASA Sanctioned track is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area.

Juniors and seniors are $11.00. Children under the age of 11 will be admitted for free. Tickets are on sale now at Napa Auto Parts in Orland, Kelly's Muffler in Paradise and in Chico at Ashley Furniture and Withrow's Motorsports.
The Blaze 103.5fm and Silver Dollar Speedway are sponsoring the spectacular fireworks show on July 4th . We will have patriotic music throughout the night to go along with hot action on the racetrack.
Track prep crew has been hard at work getting the speedway back into its old form. This past Friday races were canceled due to safety concerns with the dirt. Those problems will not exist this Friday and Saturday night as things will go back to normal and the show must go on.
Two scheduled nights of 410-sprint car racing will highlight the July 4th weekend. California's best winged 410-drivers for both nights will include Los Angeles' Tyler Walker, Campbell's Brent Kaeding and Chico's own Jonathan Allard. Over 30 winged sprint cars are expected each night.
It will be over 40 days since the last time the wingless sprints raced around the Silver Dollar Speedway. The wingless sprints will have one night, July 3, to get there fix and turn laps once again at the famed speedway. Chico's Jimmy Pettit is chomping at the bit to try and bring his Love Shack Motorsports #24p back into victory lane. Orland's Taylor Simas is coming off a win last weekend at Placerville Speedway. Grass Valley's Jay Youngman is in the third spot for the point's battle while two drivers near and dear to the Santa Rosa area, Brandon Davis and Terry Schank Jr. are also expected to attend.
Chico's Phil Marino stretched out his point leader over Heather Bartlett to 10-points after his win in June 12. Marino now has four wins, and Bartlett, one win, will continue their yearlong battle this Friday night. Chico's Joe Longmire will be featured on this Thursday nights Silver Dollar Minute is currently fourth in points.

The Dwarf Cars website is at www.dwarfworld.com. These 1928 to 1948 vintage coupe and sedan body styles offer close racing and a family fun themed night of racing. The group also throws out Frisbee's to the audience after their hot lap session.
