CHICO, CA (5-20-09) - Racing at the Silver Dollar Fair has been a long standing tradition at the speedway in Chico. While the carnival and fair food are the big attractions the first three days, racing takes center stage on Saturday, Sunday and Monday inside the main grandstand. On Saturday the Pacific Sprint cars, street stocks and wingless sprints will race around the famed quarter-mile clay oval racetrack. On Sunday night the California Sprint Car Civil War Series will showcase round number three during their 2009 campaign. On Monday, the ever popular 200-lap Enduro puts an exclamation point on the three days of consecutive racing. All three events are free to enter once you have paid for fair admission.

Racing on Saturday and Sunday night will take place at 6:30 pm. The Monday afternoon Enduro starts at 3 pm sharp. Front grandstands will be opened at 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Monday the grandstand will be opened at 2 pm. There is no reserve seating for either three events.

The wingless sprints will be led by Chico's Jimmy Pettit. The former pure stock master has been the most consistent driver this season. Pettit has mastered the racing surface with numerous top fives. Brandon Davis, former track champion in 2007, is Pettit's nearest competitor in the points. Nine championship points separate the two drivers.

Chico's Phil Marino is on the verge of a three-peat. Marino have won the first two point races of the year and looks to make it three for three on Saturday. Marino has won two-track championships in his career at Chico. Crowd favorite Heather Bartlett needs to get a little luck on her side this weekend. Both races she has been just as fast as Marino but she has bitten by the bad luck bug. Bartlett will try to break into victory lane this Saturday.
