CHICO, CA (4-29-09) - Points race number four at the ASA Sanctioned Silver Dollar Speedway heats up with 410-winged sprint cars, street stocks and dwarf cars this Friday night. On hand to help sponsor the night is Withrow's Motorsports and JP's Paint and Body Works. Both have been proud sponsors of the speedway for many seasons. Each business is located close to the speedway. Withrow's Motorsports is at 2501 South Whitman Pl. while JP's is at 1840 Park Ave. There will be many things to give away during this night as the Withrow's do an amazing job with treats for the kids and JP's is offering a Frisbee toss with cool prizes being awarded if you catch a Frisbee that has a specially marked coupon.

Racing is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area.

Kyle Hirst is coming off one of his biggest career wins. Last Friday Hirst won the Bill Brownell Memorial giving him and his Gary Perkins team a nice $3,000 payday. This week, Hirst is the point leader and is looking forward to a big night. "We are hoping to continue our momentum form last weekend," said Hirst. "We also won Saturday night at Placerville. I think the team is coming together at the right time with the Bradway just ahead."

Bobby McMahan holds onto the second spot. The first two nights of racing, McMahan has finished second in the main event. The two early season surprises are Colby Copeland and Brad Bumgarner. Each driver is relatively new to open wheel sprint car racing on dirt. Bumgarner had a stellar career while racing sprint cars on asphalt but the last three seasons he has concentrated on dirt track racing. Copeland was last year's rookie of the year and has not gone throw a Sophomore Slump. Both sit safely in the top five points standings.

For only the second time this season the Street Stock division will hit the famed clay oval speedway. Two-time track champion Phil Marino leads the charge into this weekend's shootout. Marino picked up the first win this year. Following close behind is Heather Bartlett. She finished second to Marino in the main event and looks to rebound for the win this weekend. Richard Workman had a consistent run to grab him third place honors in points. Popular driver Joe Longmire sits in the fourth spot while newcomer Rich Chapman is fifth.

The traveling Dwarf cars make their first appearance of the year. The series was scheduled to race on April 10, but that night of racing was lost due to bad weather. This past weekend the Dwarf cars invaded Placerville Speedway with 36 cars. It was an amazing night of racing highlighted by the great car count. As always the Dwarf Cars are a well oiled, tight knit group that provides great entertainment.
