CHICO, CA (3-9-09) - The prospects of the best weather ever forecast in the 23 year history of the Mini Gold Cup race at Silver Dollar Speedway plus the World's best winged sprint car drivers have escalated the interest for this weekends World of Outlaw event on Friday and Saturday nights March 13 and 14. Past years have always presented weather challenges to the traditional season opener on the ultra fast high-banked mile clay oval at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. This also marks the return of the World of Outlaw sanctioning group after a 17-year absence.

The Feather Falls Casino, Hoosier Tire presented event will feature a combination of the traveling Outlaw group and the best Western sprint car drivers who frequent Silver Dollar Speedway. Each night, one lucky driver will pocket $10,000 for the feature victory out of the nearly $93,000 up for grabs. A complete race program will be held each night with timed qualifying, heat races, dashes, and preliminary main events followed by the 40 lap feature event.

The competitor entrance and pit gate will open at 2 PM each day, and the front gate will open at 5 PM. The ticket box office is now open at 916-969-7484 or 530-891-6535. All seats are reserved, but remaining seats will be sold at the event ticket booth each night beginning at 5 PM. Although Silver Dollar Speedway has ample seating, for those who prefer a special seat, an early purchase is suggested. Seats will be randomly assigned when arriving the night of the event.

Competition is expected to be tough with reigning World of Outlaw champion Donny Schatz of Fargo, North Dakota leading the traveling parade. Tennessee drivers Jason Sides and Sammy Swindell will be on hand along with Indiana drivers Joey Saldana, Steve Kinser, and Kraig Kinser. Defending Gold Cup champion Jac Haudenschild of Wooster, Ohio along with Oklahoma's Daryn Pittman and Minnesota's Craig Dollansky will all be on hand.

Locally, Auburn's Andy Forsberg looked strong last weekend with a victory in Marysville. Chico's own Jonathan is always a threat and defending Mini Gold Cup champion Jason Meyers of Clovis will represent both the World of Outlaws and California. Campbell's Brent and Tim Kaeding have entered along with Los Angeles hot shoe Tyler Walker. Additional Chico driver include Tyler Spath, Zack West, Jason York, Matt Shelton, Johnny Gray, Stephen Allard, and Robbie Whitchurch.
