USRA Stock Cars featured this Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway on Ozarks Food Harvest Food Drive Night at the Races

WHEATLAND, MO. (June 17, 2024) - Racing action resumes on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway with the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock cars headlining the Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series program, running a 25-lap, $750-to-win feature.

Fans also have a chance to help those in need at the annual Ozarks Food Harvest Food Driver Night at the Races. Those bringing four non-perishable food items to the front gate will be admitted free to the grandstands.

Food donations will also support Ozarks Food Harvest’s partner food pantry in Wheatland, Hickory County C.A.R.E.S. Ozarks Food Harvest is the Feeding America food bank for southwest Missouri, serving 270 hunger-relief organizations across 28 Ozarks counties. The Food Bank reaches nearly 70,000 individuals monthly and provides more than 20 million meals annually.

“This is one of our most popular events each season, and our fans always rise to the occasion to help out a great cause,” Lucas Oil Speedway general manager Danny Lorton said. “We’re happy to partner again with our friends at Ozarks Food Harvest for a night that will make a difference for people facing hunger.”

Since 2008, Lucas Oil Speedway has collected more than 82,390 pounds of food to help provide more than 69,000 meals for Ozarks Food Harvest and their hunger-relief partnership with Hickory County C.A.R.E.S. Last year, 3,796 pounds - or 3,163 meals - was collected at the speedway food drive.

On the race track, the championship chases resume following last week's midseason championships. In the USRA Stock Cars, Jaylen Wettengel of Topeka, Kan., holds a five-point lead over William Garner of Lebanon as the second half of the schedule gets rolling.

Close points battles also are shaping up in the Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modifieds as Ryan Middaugh of Fulton leads Jason Pursley of Hermitage by five points and in the Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods where Springfield's JC Morton is 10 points in front of Neavda's Jon Sheets.

The class with a big margin is the Hermitage Lumber POWRi Late Models where Aurora's Justin Wells holds a 220-point lead over second-place Tucker Cox of Jefferson City.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m., with grandstand gates open at 4:30, hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.
