Help raise funds on behalf of Lucas Oil Speedway's Lorton for upcoming Promoters' Benefit Race

WHEATLAND, MO. (August 4, 2020) - Lucas Oil Speedway supporters can help track General Manager Danny Lorton earn the pole position for the inaugural Promoters' Race, coming up Thursday, Aug. 20 at Dallas County Speedway at the 2nd annual USMTS Wehr's Machine Bullring Bash.

The starting order for the 10-lap race between area track promoters will be set by how much money each raises between now and race time. All donations will go to the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation, a non-profit group that preserves area racing history and holds an annual Reunion and Hall of Fame ceremony each winter.

The promoters will be in pure stocks from Dallas County Speedway drivers.

"The promoter raising the most donations gets to start on the pole, so I need the help from our great fans and sponsors to put me there," Lorton said. Donations will be accepted during the next two Lucas Oil Speedway events, this Saturday and Aug. 15. Cash or check donations also can be dropped off or mailed to the speedway. All checks should be made out to the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation.

The idea for the fundraiser came from Dallas County Speedway promoter Scotty Allen from a promoter friend in Texas that holds a similar benefit fundraiser. Allen said look for participating track promoters to, in good fun, "call out" their fellow promoters on Facebook live videos this week.

"However much they each raise, that's how we'll start the feature," Allen said. "What we raise we'll give to the Racers Foundation. I thought it would be kind of a neat deal and show the area that the promoters actually have camaraderie toward each other and it's about the bigger pictures of each individual person."

Fans can look for a donation bucket to support Lorton this Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway during the 11th annual USMTS Slick Mist Show-Me Shootout Presented by Foley Equipment. Along with the USMTS, O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks, Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods and USRA Stock Cars will be in action.

Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

Along with regular ticket options, fans have the "Beat the Heat and Get a Suite" opportunity with individual tickets $40. Spectators can sit in air-conditioned comfort or view the action from seats outside, overlooking the front stretch. Contact admissions director Nichole McMillan (417) 282-5984 for more info.
